In September, we are pleased to present
the funky sounds of PALO! to kick
off and celebrate National Hispanic
Heritage Month. This energetic combo
of international artists will serenade us
with the music that will cause you to
be on your feet with “Afro-Cuban Funk”
(funky, jazzed-up salsa). The music is
sure to reach that funny bone in your
body an cause a joyful explosion of
Cuban music with funky beats and
jazzy improvisational energy! Please
check out this year’s opening Lyceum

p.m. in Harrison Auditorium.

Springtime at N.C. A&T will bring violinist Tami Lee Hughes
and nationally renowned jazz artist Kenny Garrett Quintet.
Tami Lee Hughes in her rendition of “The Legacy Show.”
Critics rave that Hughes “rises to considerable technical
challenges, playing with sound reminiscent of Perlman.”
Since making her debut with the National Symphony
Orchestra, she has extensively toured the United States,
Europe and Central America, championing the music of
African-American composers. Her solo album, “Legacy:
Violin Music of African Composers,” was heralded as one
of the top 10 albums of 2011 by all Music Guides, garnering
acclaim from audiences and critics alike. Nothing or no one
can compare to the sounds of this musical genius! Come
and experience what others have heard and boast about, the
music of Tami Lee Hughes, a cultural odyssey. Uncommonly
great! Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in Harrison

In March, the Lyceum Series will end the 20162017 season of “Musical Diversity” with jazz
great KENNY GARRETT QUINTET, premier
saxophonist with a 30-year stellar career of
fantastic music. This jazz giant has become the
preeminent alto saxophonist of this generation.
Having performed with the Duke Ellington
Orchestra through his time spent with such
music greats as Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw,
Art Blakely, the Jazz Messengers and the
ever comparable Miles Davis. Please
join us for the Lyceum Series closing
