Though born as a child of privledge in New York
Roosevelt learned about hardships and how to overcome obstacles when
he contracted polio in 1921. He was confined to a wheelchair or crutches’ for the rest of his life, but he
didn’t let this stop him.
He has spent a lifetime in public service. He served as a state senator in
New York, he was Secretory of the Navy under President Woodrow Wilson.
He was Governor of New York from 19 29-1932
When the stock market crashed in 1929..
the world descended into The Great Depression.
While running for President in 1932, he promised to bring America Hope..
As President he started work programs, such as the Civil Conservation Corps
And the Works Progresss Administration (WPA)
