The 5th annual Chinese Language
Speech Event took place at Ressu
Upper Secondary School in Helsinki
on Friday 20 April 2012. As a part of
the event, the preliminaries of
Chinese Bridge Compe on was
organized.
The event was honored by the
presence
of
the
Chinese
Ambassador to Finland, H.E. Huang
Xing, who also gave a speech in the
opening ceremony. Director Anja
Lah nen opened the comperi on.
Moderators of the event were Jukka
Solehmainen, Anna- ina Antola
and Joonas Juvakoski, students at
the University of Helsinki and the
Confucius Ins tute.

The Chinese Bridge Compe on for
non-Chinese university students had
racted ten par cipants from all over
Finland. First each of the students gave a short speech in Chinese. The topics varied from Chinese food and culture to water and personal experiences
in
China.
The speeches were followed by cultural performances by the contestants.
In this part the students demonstrated
their deeper knowledge of Chinese
culture.

students

Chinese
language in Finland. Beside
students from Helsinki
there were par cipants
from
Jyväskylä,
Oulu,
Lappeenranta and Turku,
altogether 24 performers.
The programme included
