Summary of Applications Determined Under Officer Delegation
1.1
Introduction
The attached schedule comprises planning and other applications that have been
determined by authorised officers under delegated powers given by Committee, or those
that have been withdrawn by the applicant or determined in other ways; as detailed in the
schedule.
1.2
Most major applications and those that are significant or controversial are reported to
Members for decision (in accordance with the Constitution). All other applications are dealt
with by Officers. This summary gives a brief overview of the applications granted and
highlights some of these cases; particular in relation to development that may involve the
creation or retention of jobs, either in construction or as part of the built development.
1.3
Between 11TH December 2010 and 14th January 2011 there were 70 planning applications
granted under delegated powers. This period represents approximately one twelfth of the
total number of applications granted under delegated powers in a year.
2.1
Applications Granted
Of the 70 granted planning applications, 29 (41%) were for householder applications,
mostly for house extensions. It is worth noting the majority of extensions to houses do not
require planning permission. Permission is only required generally for the larger or more
obvious extensions that may have some impact on neighbours or the street scene. These
29 granted applications mean a significant number of occupiers in the City will be able to
make substantial improvements to their homes. These house extensions often involve
significant personal investment by the owners that will also support jobs in the local building
trade.
2.2
There were 29 (41%) non-householder applications granted under delegated powers
between 11th December 2010 and 14th January 2011. These included commercial
development, new residential properties and public sector development.
2.3
Planning permission (10/01040/FUL) has been granted at Essential Garage Site, Dudley
Road. The scheme will bring into use a vacant site in a central location and create new
retail and restaurant investment and two staff flats.
2.4
Planning permission (10/01228/FUL) has been granted to facilitate occupation of currently
vacant retail unit by large national retailer at Unit C2 Bentley Bridge retail park.
2.5
Planning permission (10/01146/FUL) has been granted at 15 Hollybush Lane, which will
provide one additional family dwelling.
2.6
Planning permission (10/01240/FUL) has been granted at 93 Bushbury Road. A new
housing development for six apartments and removal of an unsightly building which
requires demolition.
2.7
Planning permission (10/01190/FUL) has been granted at land to the rear of 48 Primrose
Lane, for one additional family house.
2.8
Planning permission (10/01023/FUL) has been granted at Amber Leisure Ltd, Pearson
Street, for a storage unit which will allow the expansion of an existing business.

Planning permission (10/01222/FUL) has been granted for a small extension to an
established community facility which will allow for greater use at Christ Church, Church
Road, Tettenhall Wood,

Planning permission (10/00884/FUL) has been granted at 169 Penn Road, to provide
additional and updated rooms to an existing residential house.
2.11
Planning permission (10/01142/FUL) has been granted for two self contained units of
residential accommodated to be created at 94 Compton Road.
2.12
Planning permission (09/01222) has been granted at the Former Heil Trailers International
site at Great Bridge Road. The scheme will provide 131 new dwellings and a 60 bed care
home within an attractive setting. The scheme makes good use of previously developed
land and will create jobs during and after construction.
2.13
Planning permission (10/01287) has been granted for the erection of a storage building,
which will help expand and sustain the existing commercial use at 119 Spring Road.
2.14
Planning permission (10/1197/EXT) has been granted for four new family houses on site of
Former Britannia Inn, Hall Green Street.
3.1

The above information briefly summarises the applications that have been granted under
delegated powers in Wolverhampton over a period of approximately one month. The
