ISA Custom Programs to Offer Cuba Beginning Summer 2014
New Research, Student Teaching and Academic Internship Options in Caribbean and South America
AUSTIN, TX – August 20, 2013 – The Custom Programs division of International Studies Abroad (ISA) is spearheading
program development in Cuba, and will begin partnering with U.S. universities to develop and support faculty-led
programs beginning in Summer 2014.
"We are eager to add Cuba to our program portfolio,” Lauren Alexander, Associate Vice President of Custom Programs,
said. “I am confident that this new location will provide universities with the opportunity to explore academic areas in a
very unique context."
In addition to creating programs with a variety of academic models, ISA CP will be able to provide the high-quality
support services on-site in Cuba that university partners have come to expect from ISA, including health and safety
support, comprehensive orientation and advising, 24-hour Resident Staff, cultural activities and excursions. In addition,
Custom Programs will be able to reserve classroom space, secure academic visits and organize guest lectures, housing
and group meals.
“For Cuba programs, specifically, CP is planning to offer visa services and group flight options to our partners,” Alexander
said. “This should simplify travel to Cuba from the United States, which for American citizens is still rather complicated.”
ISA began administering Custom Programs in 1998 and has grown to a full-time U.S.-based staff of eight. In all, ISA CP
has collaborated with more than 85 U.S. universities to successfully develop and support over 300 faculty-led and
partnership programs. For more information on Cuba or the ISA program proposal process, please visit the ISA Custom
Programs website or contact a Custom Programs Manager at [email protected].
