OVERVIEW This feature causes the system to round all order line item unit prices to two decimal places, so that you can provide your customers with unit prices in terms of whole cents without fractions of a cent. DETAIL Existing Baseline Functionality Currently the system will present all unit prices are rounded to the ten thousandths place (i.e., to four places to the right of the decimal point). The unit price is then used to calculate the extended price, which is rounded to the hundredths place (i.e., two digits to the right of the decimal point). So when you give your customer the unit price for an item, it may contain fractions of a cent. Modified Functionality The CommerceCenter system will be modified to round all unit prices to two decimal places. For example, a unit price of $2.1247 would turn into $2.1200 and a unit price of $3.7891 would turn into $3.7900. The system will use standard rounding practices, meaning that if the last two digits are less than or equal to 49, the system will round down to 00. If the last two digits are 50 or greater, then the system will round up to the next whole cent. This modification will not change the method by which the system computes prices. The system will compute a unit price to four decimal places as it does presently. The system will then apply the rounding before computing the extended price. All areas that display and print unit prices will display the rounded unit price value. These displays will continue to include four decimal places, but the last two will always be 00. These calculations are applied in Order Entry (including Quote Entry, Quote-Order, and Order Imports) and in Shipping whenever a unit price is computed automatically by the system, and when you manually edit either the unit price or extended price of an item. For example, if you manually edit the unit price of an item to 1.3042, the system will round it to 1.3000. Note: These changes do not apply to Invoice Entry or Imported Invoices; nor do they apply to any forms or reports in the system. They do, however, apply to all companies set up in your system. 4
