Dear Parents,
Y5 Tudor Day
In support of our Y5 Tudor day there will be a menu change on Wednesday 17th February.
The following Tudor Menu will be available on Wednesday 17th February for the whole school. If your child fancies
some Tudor stew, please ask them to order it on the day as they would order their normal daily lunch.
Woodland Forest Stew, served with garden peas, carrots, a crusty roll and gravy.
Followed by oaty, apple crumble and custard.
Please note, jackets and cheese sandwiches will still be available on Wednesday as an alternative.
Menu change for Friday 19th February
The menu for Friday 19th February will be roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potato, carrots, broccoli & gravy, or jacket
potato, cheese sandwich or turkey bap.
Big Pedal
As the mornings and evenings are getting lighter we are encouraging children to take an active way of coming to school.
In the lead up to the Big Pedal (18th - 29th April) we would like to see lots of children scootering or cycling to school. This
will hopefully become a natural part of their school routine.
Coming soon in April – Dave will be delivering another Bike It Breakfast and Dr. Bike. More details to follow later.
KS1 DT Afternoon
Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came along to help with our DT afternoons this week. We had lots of
fun making some sledges for Scott of the Antarctic and some fantastic vehicles. We were very impressed with the end
products and we couldn’t decide who had the most fun, children or their helpers! We look forward to further DT
afternoons in the summer term.
World Book Day
The School Council have decided to invite children to dress up as their favourite book character on World Book Day
which is on 3rd March this year. We are not collecting for charity this time, however if you would like to make a donation
please visit the World Book Day website for details.
Social Media – polite request
We have been made aware recently of school related matters being aired through social media. If this is the case we
would encourage parents with any concerns to see their class teacher as a first point of call. We can usually sort things
out, if we know there is a concern.
Sheffield Steelers’ Women’s senior GB ice hockey team
The Sheffield Steelers’ women’s senior GB ice hockey team are playing at Ice Sheffield against Netherlands on February
11th & February 12th. We have heard that entry is free, so if you feel this is something you might enjoy, why not give
them a ring to find out some more details.
Hoyland Tesco
The staff at Tesco, Hoyland will be dressing up as book characters on Friday 4th & Saturday 5th March. Any donations
they receive over these two days will be donated to two local primary schools. As we are one of their local primary
schools we are in with a chance of winning! If you do happen to pop into Tesco, Hoyland, we would be grateful if you
would write the name of our school as your nomination and post it in the box on their customer service desk. The
winning schools will be chosen by the local community so the more requests we get, the more chance we have of
winning! Thank you!
Tesco, Hoyland will also be holding Easter Craft sessions on Wednesday 16th & Wednesday 23rd March from 5.30pm6.30pm. £1 is needed to book a place for your child and they must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
