Objectives
To meet the imperative demand for harmonious development of environment, economy and society,
this program conducts scientific researches and practical trainings on resources, environmental and
recycling economy.
2.
Length of Study Period
The normal length is 3 years. The length of study period is 2.5 to 3 years. In general, the maximum
length of schooling (including suspension) is 4 years for full-time academic master students, and 5 years
for part-time academic master students.

Arrangements of Thesis
(1) The Master student is to be assessed with a thesis proposal before the first half of the third
semester and then with an interim report before the end of the fourth semester. Successful completion
enables progression into the remaining years. One can apply for the thesis defence only after the
proposal has been completed for more than one year.
(2) The thesis must be completed independently under the guidance of the supervisor. There should
be original contributions to the knowledge. It also should be able to reflect the student’s firm and broad
basic theories and the ability to undertake independent scientific research or professionally technical
work.
(3) If the Master student want to apply for graduation and the degree in advance, he/she should
publish at least two research papers in journals indexed by CSSCI or CSCD as the first author, or two
papers retrieved by EI, ISTP or ISSHP, or one of them is retrieved by SCI or SSCI.
6.
General Requirements of Publications to Apply for Graduation and the Degree
(1) To apply for the Master degree, one should publish at least two papers closely related to his/her
thesis, and at least one of them is published in journals belonging to domestic core journals or higher level.

Acceptance notification is compatible, but at least one paper should be published.
(2) Domestic core journals refer to those listed in A Guide to Core Chinese Periodicals, CSCD
(Chinese Science Citation Database) and CSSCI (Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index). In case any
change, it will be verified according to the editions at the time of the postgraduate’s admission.
(3) First author includes the condition that the supervisor is the first while the Master student is the
second.
(4) The first affiliation of achievements (papers, patents and software copyrights) should be Beijing
University of Technology.
(5) Patents or software copyrights accepted as the first author are equivalent to papers published in
core journals.
(6) The Master student is allowed to apply for the thesis defence if he/she has completed master
training process and meets the requirements for graduation, however, does not meet the general
requirements for the Master degree. He/she is allowed to graduate if he/she pass the defence, however,
the degree assessment sub-committee temporarily does not discuss his/her application for the degree.
The Master student may re-apply for the consideration of his/her Master degree until he/she meets the
general requirements for the degree within 1 years after graduation.
(7) If the Master student want to apply for the excellent thesis award, he/she should publish at least
two research papers in journals included in CSSCI or CSCD as the first author, or two papers retrieved by
EI, ISTP or ISSHP, or one of them is retrieved by SCI or SSCI.

(1) Requirements for curriculums and credits
1) For those whose first foreign language is not English, English should be selected as the second
foreign language.
2) A basic requirement of credits acquired during one’s postgraduate studies is 26. Interdisciplinary
course selection can be permitted according to the research needs, with the number of these courses not
exceeding 3. Courses selected from other colleges are regarded as selective courses.
(2) Requirements for Academic activities
1) One should make at least three reports douring his/her postgraduate studies and the text of the
report should be submitted.
2) One should participate in academic activities such as academic conferences and lectures more
than 16 times. 50% or more of the activities should be organized by our institute, while the rest should be
recognized by our institute. A summery (no less than 500 words) on what one has learned from the
activity is required.
3) The above-mentioned jobs should be finished before the end of the fifth semester.
(3) The university regulations should prevail over other relevant provisions. This program should be
implemented since 2012.
