Head of Philanthropy, Donor Stewardship and Special Events Purpose: To lead and inspire the Philanthropy and Donor Stewardship & Special Events (DSSE) team to raise significant funds from major donors, trusts, special events and statutory funders. To devise and lead in the strategy to make a step change in fundraised income over the next three years, in-line with the fundraising strategy and to develop an ambassadorial/patronage programme. To coach and develop the team to attract and retain the highest calibre fundraisers and relationship experts. This role is responsible for overseeing the highest standards of supporter stewardship and driving innovation in all that we do. Main Responsibilities: 1. Lead and inspire the Philanthropy and DSSE team to deliver a step change in fundraised income through major donors, trusts, statutory funders and special events. Develop and lead a strategy for Philanthropy and DSSE at Macmillan, in-line with the fundraising and corporate strategies. 2. Within the strategy oversee the creation of operational plans for Major Gifts and Trusts, and Statutory and Partnership funding, to ensure a robust programme of prospect identification, cultivation, asking and stewardship is in place where appropriate. Lead in the use of a balanced scorecard and other appropriate metrics to measure success. 3. Working closely with the Director of Relationship Fundraising, CEO, Executive Strategy Team and Board of Trustees to develop an Ambassador and Patronage programme for Macmillan. Working closely with our Celebrity Stewardship team ensure that we have a process and stewardship plan for current and potential Ambassadors, Patrons and celebrity supporters. 4. Working with our innovations team lead on projects as deemed necessary through the strategy to deliver innovative stewardship and fundraising opportunities within the department. 5. Accountable for the development of relationships with a targeted number of supporters in line with the team strategy and plans. 7. Develop the skills and capabilities of the teams within a robust performance management culture to ensure effective delivery of team targets, and to motivate, develop and retain high calibre fundraisers and relationship experts. 8. Work closely with other Heads of Relationship Fundraising to ensure that all donor stewardship and income generating opportunities are maximised. 9. To ensure that Gift Aid is considered and factored into the planning of fundraising activities in order to maximise tax efficient income growth. To set and be accountable for meeting Gift Aid targets in collaboration with fundraising delivery teams. 10. Be familiar with and adhere to all relevant Macmillan policies and procedures at all times. Maintain an awareness of Philanthropy trends, news, events and legislation. 11.
