Update on the Fun Day
The weather for the day was good. Not
too hot, and no rain! This enabled the
day to go on until the small hours in the
morning.
The team at the marina would like to
thank all of you that attended the fun
day. It was yet again a resounding
success, and of the comments we had,
it was the best so far. We can only
thank you for the kind words, cards and
emails thanking us for the day, but if
you do not attend, then it would not
happen.
We are already planning next year’s
event, so let’s make sure that we can
ALL attend next year on
th
16 July 2011
Please put this date in your diaries!
We have attached a collage of pictures
from the fun day as taken by various
people.
It was good to see that the equipment
was used by all, especially the two
young adults that managed to stay on
the ‘Bucking Bronco’ for 99 seconds!
The boat race is always a good
spectacle, and we tried to make it as
hard
work
as
possible,
but
congratulations to ‘Wyvern Song’ for
being the Fastest Rowers.
We would like to apologise for the
errors in Fiona’s quiz crossword,
although the main objective was to get
you all to meet your fellow boaters
around the marina. But a big thank you
for all those that took part.
Congratulations to ‘Miss B Having’ who
was drawn out of the hat as the winner.
It was also good to see a number of
craft being dressed up, along with the
crews
in
their
fancy
dress.
Congratulations to ‘Just William’ for the
‘Best Dressed Boat’.
A big thank you to Chris Butcher,
(Campion),
for
providing
the
outstanding firework display. They
really lit up the clear night sky.
The Hog Roast caterers did a fantastic
job of feeding all 175 guests, and the
Hog was cooked to perfection. The salad
had that lovely ‘South African’ taste and
was enjoyed by all.
The disco was provided by Surrey
Sounds, and Rob managed to keep
people on the dance floor (grass)
throughout the evening with great
music. He even managed to keep some
dedicated party go’ers on the move
until early morning!
We thank you again for all that
attended. It makes the preparation
work so worthwhile.

Rubbish Disposal Area
Can we remind everybody that the
wheelie bins near the road entrance
are for DOMESTIC waste ONLY.
Domestic waste is classified as waste
food, food packaging, bottles, or
newspapers.
Please ensure that you segregate your
rubbish into the correct bins. These
are Glass, Cardboard, and General.
We are still removing items from the
wheelie bins, such as broom handles,
mops, fishing rods, furniture cushions,
old fenders, etc. PLEASE STOP!
Sometimes
people
leave
some
hazardous wastes, such as batteries
and containers of oil and paints.
The marina does have facilities for
hazardous and general waste.
We make a small charge for the
disposal of batteries and oils.
Please ask a member of staff to use
this facility, and also before placing
any items into the skip.
Unfortunately, we cannot take or
process waste bilge water that may be
contaminated with oil. We ask that
you take this away with you and
dispose of at your local council waste
disposal site in suitable containers
please.
Please Think Before you Dispose!
Thank you for your co-operation.
It is ILLEGAL to dump these.
Traffic Calming Measures – (Worth saying again)
Once again we have had a couple of
very near misses between humans
and ‘4 wheeled vehicles’.
These ‘4 wheeled vehicles’ believe
that they are more economical to be
driven in high gears to save them
drinking fluids and to get to their
destination so that they can relax.
Unfortunately this is not the case
when driving within a human run
environment.
Please observe the 5 MPH
speed limit
The humans do not wish to be choked
by the clouds of dust emitting from
wheels on gravel, or twisting ankles
in potholes created by these wheels.
The humans are planning to install more
nasty humps all around the marina that
will dampen down their urge to travel
at human damaging speeds.
We therefore would like to ask all
owners of ‘4 wheeled vehicles’ to train
their pets to watch the dial with
numbers on it, and when it increases
above 5, to stamp on their brake pedal
to slow them down and teach them a
lesson.
After all, when they enter a human
environment, they must learn to move
at human speeds and no faster. If the
boats can learn to travel at 4 mph, then
we humans feel sure that the
‘4 wheeled vehicles’ can too.
New Arrivals and Departures
We would like to welcome a number of
new berth holders to the marina.
Also we have a change of staff at the
marina. Paul Alexander has moved on to
another job, so please welcome
Matthew Archer who started with us at
the end of June.

A few words from Boat Sales
A year has flown by since Tingdene
Boat Sales took over the running of
the boat sales here at Pyrford.
Our boat sales sites now number six
in total which makes the Tingdene
group one of the largest of its type in
the inland rivers and canal network.
Coverage of boats for sale are
therefore countrywide and with the
opportunity of having a berth at any
other Tingdene Marina makes the
brokerage service we can offer truly
unique.
We also exhibit at virtually all of the
Boat Shows up and down the country
so we have already seen countless
numbers of people looking to buy a
boat, find a mooring or often a
combination of the two.
We are the biggest group of marine
companies that exhibit in this way!
Here at Pyrford the good summer
weather has kept up the momentum
of boats sales which started in early
spring this year.
Numbers of boats sold, as well as the
value of the boats sold so far have
both shown an increase.
Considering the financial climate, we
have reason to be well pleased to be
doing this amount of business.
We are looking forward to continuing
to sell boats through the later months
of the year.
Many people are amazed that the
season for selling extends right
through the year so we will be
delighted to take your boat onto our
brokerage list at any time.
Please contact me in the Boat sales
office
on
01932
343275
or
[email protected]. if you wish to
discuss this with me.
Kindly remember that Boat Sales at
Pyrford is closed on Tuesdays &
Wednesdays.
Happy boating to you all

VAT Rate from January 2011
As you all must now be aware, the
government is raising the Vat Rate to
20% in January 2011.
And, purchasing early will also mean a
saving on the mooring fees IF the tariffs
increase from April 2011.
This will obviously affect all of the
pricing for the dry dock, and specifically
moorings.
If you wish to take advantage of this
offer, please contact the marina office.
We will generate the necessary
paperwork, and send this to you.
Tingdene Marinas would therefore like
to offer you the chance of purchasing
your moorings for next year (April 2011
onwards) at the current vat rate of
17.5% therefore giving you a saving of
2.5%
You may of course purchase further
years at the current rate.
The advance mooring invoices must be
paid before 22nd December, so the last
payment date is 21st December.
Note: If you purchase additional years,
and subsequently move your craft from
the marina, you will not be entitled to a
refund of the paid mooring fees.

Pets and Fouling
A number of complaints have been
received about the number of dogs that
are creating mess around the marina
grounds.
This is a major problem for the marina
staff (in particular Steve), who then
clears up the mess that is not
particularly ‘Cairo’s’.
We have a number of berth holders and
guests that allow their dogs to run off of
the lead.
We DO know which pet belongs to each
craft, and, if your pet is seen depositing
a mess that you do not clear up, then
you may find a little bag with your pets
mess in it on your craft!
This in itself is not really a problem,
except that some berth holders do not
observe their dogs while they are in the
marina. The owners are inside their
boats, with the dog running free.
These dogs then create a mess, and
obviously do not clear up after
themselves.
Please be a
responsible pet
owner.
Gate and Toilet Access
Please remember that we NO LONGER
issue the security gate access codes on
plastic cards.
We will only provide the Security Gate
Code via email or mobile SMS text
messaging.
Therefore you must ensure that the
details that we hold for you are correct.
If you have not received the gate codes,
then you have not provided us with that
information.
If you change email address, then
please let us know.
If you change mobile telephone
numbers, then please let us know.
The toilet code is NOT the same as the
gate code. The code for both Ladies and
Gents is ‘C12345’ then turn the lock
Clockwise.
Parking of Vehicles
We know that this may sound
insignificant, but if you intend to leave
your vehicle and sail off for an extended
period of time, please could you let the
marina office know.
If you have guests that are leaving a
vehicle for ANY length of time, then
please provide the registration number
to the marina office, with length of stay
and craft name.
We do log vehicle registrations against
your file on computer and issue parking
stickers. Please ensure that these
stickers are on display.
We do get a number of vehicles parked
here so that they can use the Anchor
Pub. Obviously, we do not provide
parking for this purpose.
We would not like you to return from
your trip and find that your vehicle has
been removed from the marina as a
‘suspect’ vehicle.
Also, please park your vehicle as near to
the marina office as possible so as not
to cause an obstruction.
Thank You
