Day 1 Thursday, December 7
Rugby-Minot-Bismarck-Fargo-Sioux Falls SD
Our many travelers gather today for a Christmas
adventure! We make our way across ND &
to Sioux Falls SD. Tonight we experience a
South American treat as we dine Brazilian
style(welcome supper) with so many optionsand all of them delightful!
Day 2 Friday December 8
Sioux Falls SD-Omaha NE
We make our way to Omaha with our first
formal stop at Father Flanagan’s Boys Town.
Group Lunch will be followed by a tour of the
hall of history, Father Flanagan’s House & a
guided driving tour –all with an Irish Christmas
flavor! We follow this with a visit to Saint Cecilia
Cathedral, to learn about its famous architect,
Thomas Kimball, & the fifty year struggle to
complete the structure. View beautiful stained
glass windows, amazing Spanish colonial
artwork, and a massive three ton pipe organ.
After time to refresh at our downtown hotel we
take in the Madrigal Christmas Feast Dinner
Show-an evening of music & merriment. You
are transported to the Renaissance years
for a festive evening at an old English castle.
From the rousing wassail toast to the last bite
of Yorkshire pudding, you will be enchanted.
Madrigal singers perform on stage & around
the tables as you meet the queen’s court and
the playful jester.
Day 3 Saturday December 9 - Omaha
We begin with a guided city tour of Omaha’s
past, present and future. Tour highlights
include the historic Old Market Entertainment
District with its cobblestone streets, Lewis
& Clark Landing, the historic Gold Coast
District, Billionaire’s Warren Buffet’s home,
The Blackstone Hotel, the birthplace of the
Reuben sandwich, the theatre where actor
Henry Fonda started his career, Fertile Ground
mural, one of the largest murals in the country ,
plus Pioneer Courage Park-featuring more than
100 larger-than-life sized bronze sculptures
that tell the story of the pioneer’s westward
journey. A homemade Group lunch along
with a dance performance will follow at St.
John’s Greek Orthodox Church. An always
popular stop at Hollywood Candy, before we
have a stop at the Lithuanian Bakery to hear
from the Machevicius family about how their
family escaped Germany in WWII & moved
to Omaha to start a bakery business. Taste
some of the bakery’s famous breads and enjoy
their signature dessert which takes three days
to make. A short time to refresh and it is an
always popular Steak Group Supper at Gorate’s
Steak House. We follow this with the beautiful
production, fabulous sets, gorgeous costumes
& music of “A Christmas Carol”.
Day 4 Sunday, December 10 - Omaha
Optional morning Mass at St. Cecilia’s
Cathedral or time to simply rest or take a walk
in the downtown will be the start to our last
full day in Omaha. Group lunch will follow
prior to our afternoon at the annual Christmas
Celebration Performance at the Holland
Center. Celebrate the magic, romance, and joy
of the season as Broadway stars add to the lush
sounds of the Omaha Symphony. A singing and
dancing treat that you will remember for years
to come. This is one of the top Holiday events
in Omaha.
We will return to our hotel were we will dine
on a traditional Swedish meal, along with
Scandinavian music featuring the nyckelharpathe traditional keyed fiddle of Sweden.
Rounding our evening is the Omaha Lights
Tour with Ollie the Trolley. They will pick us up
right at the hotel!
Day 5 Monday, December 11
Omaha-Fargo ND
Considered to be a landmark Christmas
event in Omaha! The Gingerbread Display at
Mormon Trails Center provides a view of over
100 gingerbread houses of all shapes and sizes.
From here we make our way back to ND &
overnight in Fargo while also saying good bye
to our eastern ND travelers.
Day 6 Tues December 12
Fargo-Jamestown-Bismarck-Minot-Rugby
Heading back home with great memories of
possibly one of the best Christmas tours in the
Midwest-Omaha Style!
