Being strong doesn’t mean you have to stay and
fight all the battles and petty arguments that come
your way.
Being strong means you don’t have to stay and respond to rude remarks. Don’t retort by throwing
insults back to them. It’s what they want. Keep
your dignity and don’t lower yourself to their level.
True strength is being adult enough to walk away
from the nonsense with your head held high.
On call this week…Sharlene Lehman
If you have any concerns during the evening, please feel free to call 376-4333. You
will reach our answering service.
ADIRONDACK MENNONITE RETIREMENT COMMUNITY, INC.
MISSION STATEMENT
Adirondack Mennonite Retirement Community seeks to share God’s love by providing for the older adult a home and
lifestyle that are independent and dignified, secure and sheltering, purposeful and fulfilling, creative and enriched, all
within the framework of our Christian heritage. To that end, we will strive to be visionary in our recognition of needs
and compassionate in our approach to services.
Did you hear the noise,
children playing, lots of
laughter, and a little not
so quiet shivering coming
from the Adirondacks
over the weekend? We
all survived and had a
jolly good time, despite
the cold day on Sat.
They are willing to come
back again. ☺ The bus
drove by Brookside Friday evening, did you see
it?
Saturday, October 25,
is Make a Difference Day
and National Forgiveness
Day. So, you can go do
something good for a
neighbor or friend or
maybe a “not so friend”.
As for National Forgiveness Day, I personally am
thankful that I don’t have
to wait a year for Forgiveness Day to roll
around. I can go to you
or whomever I may have
wronged and ask for forgiveness.
Sunday, October 26, is
Mother in-law day. With
all the Mother-in-law
jokes, maybe it is good
that Forgiveness Day is
Saturday. I only knew my
mother in-law about two
and a half years and I
have many good memories of her. So those
jokes don’t mean much to
me.
Have a great week!

A 50-something year old white woman
arrived at her seat on a crowded flight
and immediately didn’t want the seat.
The seat was next to a black man. Disgusted, the woman immediately summoned the flight attendant and demanded a new seat. The woman said, “I
cannot sit here next to the black man.”
The flight attendant said, “Let me see if
I can find another seat.”
After checking, the flight attendant returned and stated, “Ma’am, there are no
more seats in economy, but I will check
with the captain and see if there is something in first class.”
About 10 minutes went by and the flight
attendant returned and stated, “The captain has confirmed that there are no
more seats in economy, but there is one
in first class. It is our company policy to
never move a person from economy to
first class, but being that it would be
some sort of scandal to force a person to
sit next to an UNPLEASANT person,
the captain agreed to make the switch to
first class.”
Before the woman could say anything,
the attendant gestured to the black man
and said, “Therefore sir, if you would
kindly retrieve your personal items, we
would like to move you to the comfort
of first class as the captain doesn’t want
you to sit next to an unpleasant person.”
Passengers in the seats nearby began to
applause while some gave a standing
ovation.
