FUNCTION & SCOPE:
Health Professions Opportunities Grant (HPOG) program promotes long-term self-sufficiency and independence by
preparing HPOG recipients for employment through work-related education and training activities in Allied health
professions. The HPOG Program Coordinator is responsible for program assurance and compliance, recruitment of
students, monitoring of participants’ progress and achievement/attainment of milestones, reporting and data
collection. The HPOG Program Coordinator will also collaborate with workforce development and employment
specialists to coordinate job development activities to ensure that placement and retention goals are met.
DUTIES:
 Conduct the day-to-day operation of the Program including tasks relative to recruitment of students, monitoring of
students’ progress and achievement/attainment of milestones, data management, and reporting responsibilities.
 Manage and monitor HPOG operations to ensure integrity in program operations.
 Evaluate and make recommendations on HPOG operations regarding performance outcomes.
 Monitor program performance and ensure performance based targets are met or exceeded.
 Act as liaison to the local Departments of Social Services and the Students; interface with ABC and various public
agencies and officials to facilitate achievement of performance based goals relative to the Program.
 Work closely with the Local Workforce Investment Board, community based organizations and other HPOG
collaborating partners to recruit and enroll individuals that meet the program guidelines.
 Interface with ABC HPOG staff, REOC Administrators and staff in accordance with grant established protocols.
 Promote and create a public awareness of the Program’s initiatives.
 Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Federal and State welfare regulations.
 Maintain close communication with staff regarding student issues and concerns during all phases of programming
including recruitment, enrollment, placement and retention.
 Attend HPOG staff meetings/training to update program/student status and keep related staff informed about
program issues.
 Prepare HPOG reports for ABC, the local Departments of Social Services, REOC and other entities as required on a
timely basis.
 Ensure that records and documentation are maintained for all activities and that data is entered into the Banner
Management System.
 Other duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Project Director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
*Bachelor’s degree in human services related field OR Associates degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a
related field OR demonstrated knowledge and experience providing case management services;
*Ability to develop effective working relationships at all levels within/outside the organization and to work as part of a
team.
*Experience working with diverse populations with a particular understanding of the issues relating to such populations
*Experience in conducting community outreach, including making assessments and service plans;
*Demonstrated knowledge of available supportive community resources to assist in information and referral services’
*Valid NYS Driver’s License, and access to reliable transportation

*Demonstrated excellent customer service skills including verbal and written communication skills
*Demonstrated excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
*Demonstrated good understanding of issues facing individuals who are low-income and who are eager to move from
dependence on public assistance, to independence
*Demonstrated proficient use of all Microsoft Office products
*Demonstrated personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to serving the economically disadvantaged.
