FAQ: HD Game Video Capture Recorder Box
Please note:
1. It is a video signal recorder, not a media player box, can NOT export streaming media;
2. The encrypted HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital-content Copy Protection) signal can NOT
be recorded, so usually you should use a YPbPr cable to connect the capture to PS3 game
console;
3. Please format your USB flash drive as FAT32 before use, if the USB flash drive is over
32GB, please format it as NTFS, exFAT is not supported;
4. The MIC input is available ONLY when using YPbPr IN port, it would not work when
using HDMI IN port;
5. Please make sure the output video signal from the game console is Progressive Mode
(such as 1080P, 720P), not Interlace Mode (such as 1080i, 720i);
6. If using it with a laptop, please make sure the default Audio Playback Device on the
laptop is "XXX28X", otherwise maybe there is no sound with the recorded video file.
You could connect the HDMI IN port to your game console, it is Mode 1, the MIC IN port is
not available, you can NOT record your voice with a extra 3.5mm microphone;
Or you could connect the YPbPr IN port to your game console, it is Mode 2, the MIC IN port
is available, you can record your voice with a extra 3.5mm microphone;

Q: The capture can not record anything on the USB flash drive, Why?
A: Please make sure the export signal from the game console is not HDCP
(High-bandwidth Digital-content Copy Protection), usually PS3 game console has this issue,
other game consoles such as PS4, Xbox, you could disable the HDCP function on the
settings of the game console.
If it is not HDCP signal, please check the item as the following steps:
1. Please format the USB flash drive as FAT32/NTFS first (it would solve most errors);
2. Power off the TV set, game console and the capture box, remove all cables connected
to the capture, wait about 30 seconds, connect the all cables again, power on all devices,
plug the formatted USB flash drive in it (it would solve the poor contact issue, or replace the
cables to try again);
3. Wait about 20 seconds, press the REC button, the LED indicator would change from
green to red, it is recording, after 10 seconds, you could press the REC button again to stop
recording, the LED indicator would flash;
4. Wait about 10 seconds after the LED flash, the recorded file has been saved on the
USB flash drive, remove the USB flash drive from the capture;
5. Plug the USB flash drive on a computer, you would watch it, edit it or share it to other
friends.
Q: There are recorded video files on the USB flash drive, but no sound.
A: If you use the capture as Mode 1 (use HDMI IN port), usually it is the HDMI cable issue,
please reconnect all HDMI cables or replace them; If you use it with a laptop, please make
sure the default Audio Playback Device on the laptop is "XXX28X", otherwise maybe there
is no sound with the recorded video file. Right click the speaker icon, click Playback devices,
and set the device “XXX28X” as the default device. Please refer to the photo below:
If you use the capture as Mode 2 (use YPbPr IN port), please make sure the 5 pins on
the YPbPr cable adapter are all used, the green/red/blue pins are for video signal, the
red/white pins are for audio signal. If you did not use the red/white pins, the recorded file

would be no sound. Please refer to the photo below:
Q: I plug a microphone in the MIC IN port, but it can not record my voice!
A: Please make sure which modes you are using, MIC IN port is NOT available when using
HDMI IN port (Mode 1).
If you use the capture as Mode 2 (use YPbPr IN port), please make sure the
microphone is compatible with the capture, it need a general 3.5mm microphone. You could
connect the microphone on a computer (usually there are two 3.5mm ports, one is for
earphone, another is for microphone), and try to record your voice, if it is workable, the
microphone is accepted.

Q: I have connected all devices, but there are not any picture on the TV set.
A: 1. Please make sure that the HDMI signal export from your game console is not
encrypted (HDCP) signal, or disable the HDCP protection on your game console if possible,
then reboot the game console and the game capture.
2. If there are some HDMI IN ports on the TV set, please make sure the default HDMI
IN port is the one which connecting to the game capture, you could change it on the
settings of your TV set.
3. Please make sure whether your TV set support 1080P signal, and you could change
the export signal on the game console to 720P/480P to try again.
4. Please change another HDMI cable to check it again, and plug the cable in TV set
and the game capture tightly, poor contact would result in this issue also.
Q: It can record my voice, but the sound is too low.
A: If there is a volume control on the microphone, please turn it up, and close to the
microphone when recording. On the other hand, you could check the microphone on a
computer, if the sound of the recorded file is still low, we think you should replace it.
Q: The recorded video is very terrible, it is just 15FPS, too bad!
A: Please make sure the export video signal from the game console is Progressive Mode
(such as 1080P, 720P), not Interlace Mode (such as 1080i, 720i), sometimes the recorded
file has this issue with the Interlace signal.
Usually the FPS of the recorded file is same as the FPS of the input signal, except
1080P signal, the best video quality of the recorded file is 1080P 30FPS.

Q: How come my game play video are lagged?
A: Please connect the game console to the TV set directly (without the game capture) to
confirm that they work normally.
1. Replace the HDMI cables, usually the cables do not meet the HDMI standard, so the
signal transmission is not smoothly.
2. The game console is not compatible with the capture box. You could use another
game console, or TV box, laptop to check the capture box.
3. Replace the USB flash drive, and format the new USB flash drive as FAT32/NTFS
before use.
Q: How to record game chat like other people talking not just you?
A: Usually the recorded file includes the voices of your online friends, if you need record
your voice also, you need two microphones. One connects to your game console to chat
with your online friends, another connects to the MIC IN port on the capture to record your
voice. Then the recorded file would include the voices of your friends and your own.
