5 Reasons Your Vision Board Isn’t Working “Cheat Sheet” If you’re not familiar with a vision board, it’s a poster board (or corkboard) where you apply images and phrases that support your dreams and goals. You get to see what your vision will look like in reality while creating a physical representation of your dreams. Vision boards make your success attractive as you attract success by the person you become. Vision boards also keep you motivated towards birthing that vision! So take a poster board and paste your pictures, magazine cut-outs, quotes, pictures you find online, and whatever ever else that will inspire your vision and apply those images to that poster board. I want to share with you some strategies that you can begin to implement in order to actually make your vision a reality because too many of us are getting frustrated when we don’t see things happening in our favor. So it’s tempting to quit, thinking that “this vision board stuff” doesn’t work. But don’t you actually want to start that online business? Think about how it will feel to have those extra income streams deposited into your bank account every week? What will it feel like to finally walk down the aisle at your wedding or be debt free so that you can stop avoiding those Sallie Mae calls? I know you still want to take the vacation to Dubai too! So whatever is on your vision board, here are some pointers to help you make that vision board actually work this time around. 1. Be Specific: You’ve probably done a vision board before and what I’ve noticed is that sometimes it becomes and arts and craft project that we never finish or look at again or the vision isn’t clear on the board; they’re simply nice images that we think are pretty. Although your vision board should of course motivate you, it should clearly represent your goals that you want to accomplish. You should have images that represent each of your current goals on your vision board. Consider super imposing a photo of you wearing that cap and gown and next to it write: Doctorate in 2018. Or print out a copy of your bank statement and write the figures you want to see and paste into your vision board. There’s power in specific images that precisely represent your goals. Also, if you have specific vision for maybe a new © 2016 Embrace Her Legacy. I have four vision boards in my bedroom alone, and each represents a different vision, so don’t be afraid to have several boards and put the extra effort where need be. Remember it’s your vision! Post Your Vision board Somewhere You’ll See Every Day: Don’t just throw your vision board under the bed or in your closet. Make sure you post it somewhere that you’ll see every day to keep you focused. Look at it daily and take at least 5 minutes a day to actually envision how achieving those goals will feel. Stop Killing Your Vision with Your Words: You will have what you say. Make sure that you’re not speaking death over your goals by speaking words of doubt and fear. Every word you speak has life in it. Your words have the living power inside of them to make your success attractive towards you or you can use your words to kill your own dreams. Choose to speak words of faith, hope and positive expectations over yourself, your dreams and your circumstances. Where you are doesn’t define who you are. You will see it when you believe it, not the other way around. I like to take it another step further and thank God in advance for already making my dreams a reality when I look at and actually speak over my vision boards. Have a Daily Success Routine: If you’re not doing something daily towards your goals then you might as well throw that vision board in the trash. You should have a daily routine where you’re taking action towards your goals. You have to be willing to go the extra mile, and do more than just getting up, going to work, eat, scroll through social media, watch TV, sleep and do it all over again. If part of your vision is to weigh an ideal weight, then you should be exercising. If you want to start your e-commerce fashion boutique, then you should be devoting at least an hour towards that vision every day. You want to be prepared for the opportunity when it comes knocking. It would totally suck to get a call from a potential investor and you don’t have a business plan ready. Also, do something to invest in your personal development and goals every day so that you can add value to yourself, others and your vision. Wealthy people have good, daily habits that guarantee personal success which include things like waking up early, exercising, reading personal development books, listening to motivational content, reviewing goals and having daily tasks lists that are set the day before. Find what works for you. Practice the Art of Discipline: OK, I get that most people don’t like this one but you cannot achieve your vision (whatever it is), if you’re not disciplined. Discipline isn’t something you do once and never do it again, it’s a lifestyle. Be someone who is disciplined in how you spend your time and money because those two will be the greatest investments you can apply to your vision. You can’t have a goal to save money to quit your job in order to start your business but you keep spending hundreds of dollars on shopping, eating out and vacations. Like Jim Rohn said, “You can choose the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The pain of discipline weighs ounces and the pain of regret weighs tons.” Be patient and trust that your hard work will pay off. **Update When Needed: Yes, I’m giving you a bonus one! As you grow, so will your goals. Therefore, you shouldn’t be looking at vision boards that are 3 and 4 years old. As your vision grows, so should your vision boards. Where you were last year shouldn’t be where you are this year so make sure you’re always looking at images that represent your current vision. Last year’s techniques may not work for this years’ demand. © 2016 Embrace Her Legacy. All Rights Reserved. @EmbraceHerLegacy
