GSM Gate/Standalone/Intercom USB Installation 1. proceed to download the USB driver located on the MAMI website http://www.mami.co.za/other/gsm_usb_driver.zip 2. Extract the zip file to a directory of choice (make a note of where the directory is located as it will be needed in the following steps) 3. Plug the a USB cable into the unit and apply power to the terminals If your PC does not have the driver install you will be presented with the following screen: 4. Select “No, not this time” and click the Next button 4. Select “Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)” and click the Next button page 1 5. Select the option “Include this location in the search”, click the browse button and location the folder where the driver file was extracted to, click OK and click Next 6. The driver will be installed and you make click the Finish button. 7. If the Hardware wizard requires an additional driver repeat steps 1-6. page 2 USB Driver verification To Make verify that the driver has been successfully installed, open control panel and double click the System icon. Click on the Hardware tab. Click the Device Manager button. Scroll to “Ports (COM & LPT)” and expand the list by clicking the + You should see a device called USB Serial Port (COMX) where X is a number. page 3 GSMConf - GSM configuration program Application installation procedure 1. proceed to download the application located on the MAMI website http://www.mami.co.za/other/gsmconf.zip 2. Extract the zip file to a directory of choice (make a note of where the directory is located as it will be needed in the following steps) 3. Open windows explorer to the extracted location and open the file ‘setup.exe’ 4. Proceed through the installation process and click Finish at the end. The setup will create a program folder called MAMI under your Start Menu Running the program 1. Plug in the USB cable into the GSM unit and apply power (in that order) GATE/STANDALONE: apply power holding down button 1 and then release it 2. Windows will locate the driver and install the device 3. Launch the GSMConf program located under MAMI in the start menu 4. Select the associated comm port in the COMM PORT droplist. If you are unsure which comm port to use follow steps on page 3 5. Click your device type: ‘GSM STANDALONE’ or ‘GSM GATE’ or ‘GSM INTERCOM’ 6. There should be either a flashing ORANGE or GREEN LED at this point (No Flashing Blue) 7. To confirm that there is communication between the program and the GSM unit click blue button ‘READ SETTING FROM GSM UNIT’. The unit should flash the RED LED twice page 4
