BUSINESS PLUS
2016 has been our strongest year since
2008 and we will finish the year with over
3,000 registrations. This represents an
increase in sales of 36% year on year,

We launched updated Mazda3 and
Mazda6 models and new engines
including a 1.5 litre diesel in the Mazda3

redevelopment is almost complete, with
70% of our showrooms now upgraded.
WHAT HAS BEEN MAZDA’S BESTSELLING MODEL

Mazda3. More and more consumers are
DECEMBER 2016/JANUARY 2017
realising what Mazda has to offer and
we have solidified our position as an
alternative to premium brands,
matching quality and specifications
at a more reasonable price. The
Mazda6 received a mid-life upgrade
towards the end of 2016, which further
improved the driveability and comfort
while adding a number of options such
as radar cruise control and improved
safety features.
WHAT’S THE BEST MAZDA FAMILY BUY?
The CX-5, which is our largest SUV for
the Irish market. It has a spacious

WHAT’S THE BEST PEUGEOT EXECUTIVE BUY?
WHAT’S THE BEST PEUGEOT FLEET BUY?
The Peugeot 508 RXH is a beautiful
estate model with a stunning LED
lighting signature that really stands
out in a crowd. Retailing from
€41,780 plus delivery, it simply oozes
desirability and is dripping with
standard equipment.
The Partner van has remained our
bestselling van and indeed fleet
model. Very popular with SMEs, it is
the epitome of value for money and
reliability. The new-generation Expert
mid-sized van has just arrived in
Ireland and we anticipate strong
growth in this segment through 2017.

compatible with Apple Car Play,
and MirrorLink as an optional extra
or as standard depending on trim.
WiFi is available on the new 2008
SUV GT Line as standard, as well
as on Professional Partner and
Expert vans.
WAY IN 2017?
Very positive. We’ve seen the lion brand
increase its registrations by 23%,
outperforming the total market increase of
just under 18%. Our light commercial
vehicle sales have soared by 49%, the
highest growth amongst the top van
marques in Ireland.
The new Peugeot 3008 SUV will arrive in early
2017. Available in five trim levels with a choice
of petrol and diesel engines, including our 1.2
litre, 130bhp PureTech petrol engine, which
was a category winner in the International
Engine of the Year in 2015 and 2016. The new
Peugeot 5008 7-seater SUV will arrive in May.
WHAT’S YOUR BEST FAMILY BUY?
WHAT HAS BEEN PEUGEOT’S BIGGEST SELLING MODEL
IN 2016?
The Peugeot 2008 compact SUV continues
to be our bestselling car model. Recently
voted Irish Small SUV of the Year for 2017,
it received a substantial facelift in mid-2016.
The 2008 SUV is the first in a number of
SUV launches to come in the next six
months.
The new Expert van has just arrived in
Ireland and 2017 will see a Combi version
arrive with nine seats. It can also be specified
with five or six seats and has an impressive
specification including cruise control and
Bluetooth. The RRSP is from €31,575 plus
delivery. The new year will also see the
arrival of the new Peugeot Traveller, in Active
and Allure trim for the Irish market. With an
eight-seat configuration, or the option of five
seats, the Traveller Active is priced from
€38,225 plus delivery.
The Peugeot 5008 is the second
bestselling compact seven-seater
MPV in Ireland and we currently
enjoy over 13% of this segment.
A combination of incredible
scrappage deals plus low-cost
finance packages make the
Peugeot 5008 a fantastic buy for
Irish families.
WHAT’S YOUR PERCEPTION OF BUYER
SENTIMENT?
Whilst early 2016 saw stability in
consumer confidence, there has been
a slowdown in recent months and
that is reflected in the market stats.
However, with very strong consumer
offers ahead of the 171 registration

WHAT KIND OF A YEAR HAS HYUNDAI HAD?
Excellent. We are market leaders in
passenger car sales for 2016 with a
market share of 10.6%. Our sales are up
35% compared with the overall market
growth of just under 18%.
WHAT HAS BEEN HYUNDAI’S BIGGEST SELLING
which will be in showrooms the week
before Christmas. The i30 is spacious
and stylish and comes with an excellent
specification. The new model is bigger
than its predecessor and is very much
positioned in the executive segment
with all of the comfort and equipment
expected at this level. There will also be
an estate version around July 2017.
MODEL IN 2016?
WHAT’S THE BEST HYUNDAI FAMILY BUY?
The Tucson, which went to number one in
sales within its first year, which is quite an
endorsement. The i30 was our second
biggest seller with the i20 in third.
WHAT’S THE BEST HYUNDAI EXECUTIVE BUY?
That would have to be the new i30,
DECEMBER 2016/JANUARY 2017
The Tucson. It delivers everything a
family could want in terms of
practicality and space and is a
phenomenally good-looking car. People
buy with their eyes and the styling of
the Tucson has been a real hit. What’s
interesting is that although we have
four trim levels on Tucson, the majority
of sales are of the higher spec
Executive version. People could drive
the entry model for a lot less, but they
are willing to pay for the betterequipped option.
WHAT’S YOUR BEST FLEET BUY?
The i40, mainly due to its combination
of space, comfort and five-year
unlimited mileage warranty. This
extended warranty really strikes a
chord with fleet buyers as high
mileage cars can typically run into
maintenance issues after a number of
years, and the bills can be substantial.
Being able to offer five years unlimited
mileage has drawn a lot of new
business.
WHAT NEW REVISED MODELS ARE ON THE WAY
IN 2017?
The Ioniq is essentially a 2017 car for
us and is available as an EV or a full
hybrid now, with a plug-in hybrid to
come in July. We are expecting sales
to be 60:40 in favour of the EV
version. We will also have the new i30
and the new Ni30 coming later in 2017.
It is a high performance 4-door
fastback with 180bhp.
WHAT LEVEL OF CONNECTIVITY DO HYUNDAI
CARS OFFER?
The Ioniq and new i30 have Apple
CarPlay and Android Auto, as does the
new spec i40 executive plus. The
BUSINESS PLUS
intention is to roll it out on all models
over time. Virtually all models have
Bluetooth as standard.
WHAT’S YOUR PERCEPTION OF BUYER
SENTIMENT?
There is an element of uncertainty but
the fundamentals are still strong. I
think we may see a particularly good
second half in 2017 if some of these
uncertainties are resolved. If not, we’re
possibly looking at a market size of
around the same as this year. We are
now seeing those who bought new
before the crash returning to the
market and PCP finance is working
well for them, as they have the deposit
in their trade-in and can drive away in
a new car.

WHAT KIND OF YEAR HAS CITROËN HAD?
To say very busy would be an
understatement. Since taking over Citroën
Motors Ireland from PSA/Peugeot-Citroën
group in October 2015, we have introduced
new systems both internally and to our
dealers and have employed and trained 15
new Irish team members. We have replaced
all the previous owner’s UK-based staff
with Irish people, something we think is
very important, and have increased our
team to 25 people. We’ve also sold and
registered 3,000 vehicles through our
dealer network.
WHAT NEW MODELS HAS CITROËN LAUNCHED
RECENTLY?
The new DS4 and DS4 Crossback models,
the new DS3, the new Dispatch van and the
new Space Tourer. We have also facelifted
the Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso and
introduced the limited edition Cactus
RipCurl. We have also completely
repositioned our LCV pricing policy.
WHAT’S THE BEST CITROËN FAMILY BUY?

The Grand C4 Picasso, which offers
unrivalled levels of comfort to every
passenger thanks to Citroën’s
Advanced Comfort system.
WHAT HAS BEEN CITROËN’S BIGGEST SELLING
MODEL IN 2016?
WHAT’S THE BEST CITROËN FLEET BUY?
The Grand C4 Picasso, Ireland’s bestselling
MPV with a segment share of 19%.
At commercial fleet level it is our
superior range of Berlingo LCVs, with
a range of payloads from 600kg to
850kg. Low running costs, low fuel
consumption, the ability to fit two
Euro pallets in the cargo area and
carry items up to three metres in
length makes the Berlingo an ideal
choice for SMEs. The vehicles are
available in SWB, LWB and crew van
versions with single or double side
doors and, most importantly, three
front seats.
WHAT’S THE BEST CITROËN EXECUTIVE BUY?
During 2016 the DS4, but DS5 is gaining
traction and is ideal for anyone looking
for a distinctively styled and refined
executive car.
WHAT NEW AND REVISED MODELS ARE ON
The new C3 launch crosses over the
end of 2016 and the beginning of
2017. The C3’s launch is one of the
most important launches for Citroën
in 2017 and we have high
expectations for this model. During
2017 we are expecting a further two
launches, one each from Citroën and
DS.
WHAT LEVEL OF CONNECTIVITY DO CITROËN
CARS OFFER?
Our cars provide the latest
technology with the Mirror Screen
function now spreading across the
range. This function lets you mirror
your smartphone with Apple CarPlay

the Connected Cam brings things to
the next level by offering drivers the
possibility of taking pictures and

WHAT KIND OF A YEAR HAS RENAULT HAD?
WHAT ARE RENAULT’S BEST EXECUTIVE AND
FLEET BUYS?
It’s been another great year for the
motor trade, with the overall market up
18% and Renault Group up 30%. This is
the third year in a row that our growth
has exceeded the market.
WHAT HAS BEEN RENAULT’S BESTSELLER IN 2016?
The new Kadjar has had a very
successful first year in Ireland with over
2,500 units sold. It’s been a strong
driver for our growth this year along
with our other core models, the Clio and
Captur. The Dacia brand also continues
to go from strength to strength and is
now in 12th position in the market ahead
of established brands that have been
here for 40 years.
DECEMBER 2016/JANUARY 2017
For me, it has to be the Kadjar Signature
and the Grand Coupé. They both have all
the technology, space and comfort a
busy executive needs.
In terms of toys, they’ve got everything
from touchscreen multimedia navigation,
to top of the range sound systems. The
only difficulty is choosing between the
powerful dCi 130 and the smooth-shifting
auto gearbox in the dCi 110 EDC.
WHAT’S RENAULT’S BEST FAMILY CAR?
The stunning new Scenic and Grand
Scénic 7-seater. You’ll be amazed at the
lengths Renault has gone to to protect
your family, with some incredible
active safety equipment as standard.
WHAT LEVEL OF CONNECTIVITY DO RENAULT
CARS OFFER?
Most of our cars have R-Link, which
combines touchscreen navigation and
integrated Bluetooth that allows you
to make and receive calls directly from
the car’s screen, or play direct from
your phone’s music player. The latest
version will read your text messages
aloud and features an array of
applications to make your journey
easier, such as TomTom Live traffic
services.
WHAT IS THE MOST ECONOMICAL RENAULT
MODEL?
Our most economical models are from
our electric vehicle range, which
includes Twizy, ZOE and Kangoo ZE. In
Q1 2017, we are launching the new,
long-range ZOE, which has a 400km
range, the longest of any mainstream
electric vehicle. Of our diesel variants,
the Clio dCi 90 Ecoleader is the most
economical.
WHAT NEW AND REVISED MODELS ARE ON THE
WAY IN 2017?
We’re launching six new models in
2017, which will make our line-up the
youngest in the Irish market. We
BUSINESS PLUS
launched the all-new Mégane in July
and the all-new Mégane Sport Tourer
has just arrived. Customers can also
check out the replacement for our
popular Fluence, the Mégane Grand
Coupé. From December we’re bringing
style back to the MPV segment with
the all-new Renault Scénic.
WHAT’S YOUR PERCEPTION OF MARKET
SENTIMENT?
The cost of ownership is the key for
buyers, which is why our 171 offer has
reduced 3% APR finance with three

WINDSOR MOTOR GROUP?
A very successful one. Passenger

most significant growth has come
from commercial sales. We have also
benefited from a successful aftersales
year, plus we have seen a greater
penetration rate of customers availing
of finance. Our growth can be credited

Within our Peugeot range, it’s the 2008

For Peugeot, we will see the
introduction of the all-new 3008 and

MX-5 RF Retractable Fastback, and an
upgraded Mazda 3 from January.
Within our Opel range there will be a
number of new models, including the
new Insignia, which will be a lighter,
more dynamic and agile drive. Opel
will also launch two completely new
SUVs, the Opel Crossland X and the
Grandland X. Both combine the
coolness of a SUV with a high level of
driving dynamics.

for innovation, class-leading
technology and remarkable safety

the 508 and within our Mazda range
it’s the Mazda6.
WHAT’S YOUR BEST FLEET BUY?
The Qashqai and X-Trail both give fleet
customers a real alternative to the
traditional standard four-door saloon
that has traditionally performed
strongly in this segment.
As the economy recovers and with the
increased availability of competitive
finance options, particularly PCP and
Hire Purchase, there is a definite shift
towards new cars. Another important
factor is that consumers want value

WHAT KIND OF A YEAR HAS TOYOTA HAD?
WHAT ABOUT YOUR HYBRID SALES?
WHAT’S TOYOTA’S BEST FAMILY BUY?
We are satisfied with our year, as we have
had strong demand across our entire
model range and we are number one in the
retail market. We are continuing to perform
well in all the core segments, and with the
arrival of the new Toyota C-HR SUV we will
now have two models in the fastestgrowing segment of the Irish market. Lexus
has also had a good year, with the new RX
and RC being very well received.
Demand for our hybrid vehicles continues
to grow, accounting for over 12% of our
total sales. For models such as the Yaris
and Auris, the hybrid uptake is even higher
and accounts for over 20% of sales. Hybrid
is now available in six of our models and
with the arrival of the Toyota C-HR we
expect that our overall sales mix of hybrid
vehicles will account for a significant 28%
of our volume in 2017.
WHAT WAS TOYOTA’S BESTSELLING MODEL IN 2016?
WHAT’S THE BEST TOYOTA EXECUTIVE BUY?
Our new C-HR C-SUV is already
attracting a lot of interest from
families even though it has just been
launched. As the eye-catching
design is a radical departure for
Toyota, it is also attracting a new
customer base. With a competitive
price of €26,895 and comprehensive
specification levels across the
different grades, the C-HR has
definitely struck a chord with that
family audience.
The Toyota Corolla continues to be our
bestselling model and we expect that to
remain the case in 2017 with the
introduction of the new Corolla. It features
a new exterior design, a new interior and
additional specification.
The new 2017 Lexus IS300 is a superb

MODEL IN 2016?
Very successful. Overall, our share and
sales volumes are up on 2015 figures
and we are set to claim the title of topselling automotive brand in the
combined passenger and commercial
vehicle markets, which is very
heartening. We have had several
important new product launches, not
least of which was the arrival of the
new Mustang. We throw around the
term ‘iconic’ a lot in our industry, but
for once it is truly an apt description for
the Mustang, which was voted Irish
Performance Car of the Year for 2017.

The Focus continues to be a strong

new Focus ST Line, with its more
powerful engines and sleek sporty

HOW IS THE NEW CAR MARKET LOOKING FOR

Without a doubt, uncertainty over the

customer sentiment. However, in spite
of that we are seeing a robust level of
showroom traffic and we are receiving
reports of significant numbers of
customers laying down deposits for
their new 171 cars.

Why? The New Tiguan
(pictured) is a compact SUV,
and this is Ireland’s
strongest growing segment,
with a 20% share of the
total market. There is
obviously high interest in
SUVs from consumers and
the Tiguan TDI 115 is the
perfect answer to this

well-established SUV with
very high equipment levels,
all at a very affordable

We had a challenging year after the
diesel issue in late 2015. However, now
that the technical solutions are

running, we can start to win back
customers’ trust. We know there is still
hard work ahead of us, but the brand at
OEM, importer and retailer level are all
fully committed. At the same time, we

However, due to the shift towards SUVs
and the arrival of the all-new Tiguan,

The Passat is our bestselling car in the

Arteon will be our flagship model.
It will arrive before the 172 plate. We

Without doubt the Touran, because it
