Notes from Leslie...
Spring is in the air as we hear the birds singing
(very) early in the morning! Flowers are starting to pop
out of the ground and hopefully we will start getting
some of the April showers very soon.
Ninety-nine members enjoyed the March showing

of “McFarland USA” on movie day. This was another
movie based on a true story that touched our hearts as
we learned about the outstanding accomplishments of
a young group of athletes. Diana Nelsen and Sharon Davis (celebrating March birthdays)
helped with drawing the $2 prize winners. The $2 prizes were won by Leroy Lorsch, Edie
Gibbs, Lanny Hoogner, Betty Lunn, Paul Nockels, Barb Kruse, Jane Navrude, Marjorie Kohler,
Ruth McKay and Carol Kahler. Richard Lines won the $10 morning $Moneybags$ (again!)
but there was no winner in the afternoon. Congratulations to all! The $Moneybags$ will be
$10 (a.m.) and $40 (p.m.) at the April movie. The next movie day will be Wednesday, April 8th,
with shows at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Blair 3 Theatres.
Savor the Flavors of Europe day tour is scheduled for Thursday, June 11th and is
starting to fill up. We will travel to a variety of Iowa communities for cultural experiences
from Sweden, France, Denmark and Germany with no passport required! We will enjoy
both lunch and dinner (in addition to other delicacy samplings) on this outing. I have flyers
available with full details or you can call me at 402-533-0103 to make reservation.
The Chicago! Chicago! Travel Show was well-attended and we now have 12 reservations!
This 4-day trip, scheduled for August 17-20th, is very reasonably priced for all that it offers
and a bonus is spending all 3 nights in the same hotel. A minimum of 30 passengers is
required for this trip, so please let me know if you are interested. Please feel free to invite a
friend (or friends) to go with you if you are not comfortable traveling alone. Flyers with a full
itinerary are available.
The Kolaches to Clay day tour on April 29 th is now finalized with 38 passengers. If you
have not paid for your reservation, please do so as soon as possible. I will send departure
notices to everyone in about two weeks.
All final payments have been received from the Alaska travelers (thank you very much!)
and I will be sending more travel information to you shortly. We will also have a pre-tour
meeting a couple of weeks before our departure date and I will send you a notice about that
later.
Please pay special attention to the notice about our annual Community Shred Day and
take advantage of our help with your spring cleaning!
Wishing a happy and blessed Easter to everyone! I hope the weather is good for all of
the children (and some adults!) to search for the eggs left by the Easter Bunny!
