KIDS FUN CLUBS
“KIDS FUN CLUBS” will be held after school on Wednesdays and
Saturdays during the winter of 2017 in our two community
centers. These classes are for Edison resident children in
Kindergarten through 5th grades only. Come join in on the fun!

TEENS OFFERED VARIETY OF CLASSES FOR WINTER
Many different classes from art to chess to basketball instruction will be offered this
winter to all Edison middle school and high school students with a valid teen center
ID. These winter classes will begin on January 3rd and run through March 10th.

FEBRUARY IS
AFRICAN-AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH
“A TIME FOR PEACE”
In observance of the upcoming African-American History
Month and the birthday of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr., we are sponsoring a contest titled “A Time for Peace”.
This contest is open to Edison school students in grades 3rd
through 12th. Submissions can be in the form of original
artwork, poetry or a short essay (100 words max), describing
how you would bring about peace and unity in your
community, state or the world. Awards for top entries will

“SWEETHEART” FAMILY BINGO
Edison’s 17th Annual Family Bingo is ready to go on Saturday, February 4th in the St. Matthew Church Cafeteria. This year’s theme is “Sweetheart

An “Adventures in Babysitting” program for Edison teenagers in grades 6th through 9th, who want to learn the fundamentals of babysitting, will be

NORTH EDISON BASEBALL & SOFTBALL is currently accepting registrations for the Spring 2017 Season. Our Spring Season offers a great opportunity for kids to
play softball and baseball (ages 4-18) and to sharpen their skills through free clinics and practices. Travel Baseball is also offered by the League. Opening Day is April
22, 2017. Playoffs begin and conclude in the beginning of June. We have 8 fields in one complex with 4 lighted fields for night games. Early bird registration

SHORINJIRYU KARATE OFFERED AT RECREATION CENTERS
It is the ultimate purpose of Shorinjiryu Karate-do to develop individuality in mind and body through the study of traditional techniques and the spirit of competition.
Lessons are offered to children ages 9 & up, teenagers and adults of Edison Township. Students are expected to attend at least (2) classes per week. Please go to

RECREATION OFFERS WEIGHT ROOM FACILITIES FOR ADULTS
Our Edison Recreation Department offers weight rooms at both community centers. Open to both residents and non-residents, both centers offer free
weights, universal machines, treadmills and exercise bikes.
A resident fee of $10.00 a month or a non-resident fee of $30.00 a month is charged. The hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 9:30
p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. IN PERSON REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
ADULT SOFTBALL OFFERED FOR MEN & WOMEN
Middlesex County residents are welcome to enter teams in Edison’s adult spring/summer softball league which will begin on April

ADULT CO-ED SUMMER KICKBALL OFFERED
The Edison Recreation Dept. is currently accepting team applications for the Summer 2017 Co-Ed Kickball League. All applications
are due back on or before Monday, March 13, 2017. The league is open to all adults, 18 and older. There is no township or county
residency requirement. Additional information and a downloadable application can be found in “Entertaining Edison” at

EDISON FLIPPING OVER ACROBATIC GYMNASTICS —Acrobatics is a sport with beauty and art and a combination of gymnastics,
choreography and fitness. Instruction will be provided by Ms. Jun Li, World Cup Gold Medalist in the Sport of Acrobatic Gymnastics and
former member of the Chinese Acrobatic Gymnastics Team. All information can be obtained by clicking on this headline in “Entertaining

TABLE TENNIS PROGRAM FOR YOUTH & ADULTS —Ping Pong open play and instruction will be offered for grades 3 – adult. The
program will be held on Saturdays at the Stelton Community Center. Please click on the heading for information and the downloadable

TAIJI/GONGFU PROGRAM FOR ADULTS & CHILDREN —Taiji is one category of Qi/Gong, Gongfu. It has about 1000 years of history. It
emphasizes mind and body in harmony with peace. By doing Taiji, the practitioners achieve internal strength and external beauty.
Taiji quan is called “moving meditation” which is mostly the mental activity paying attention to the internal feeling to make sure that Qi
flows smoothly, fluidly and reaches all parts of the body. As a martial art, Taiji quan builds up firm rooting and develops sharp
awareness. The program will be held on Saturdays at the Stelton Community Center. For details and applications, click on the above

REGISTRATION ON TAP FOR JUNIOR TENNIS PROGAM —All children in grades K-8 are invited to participate in the Junior Tennis Program
run by “Young’s Tennis”. The program will run from Monday, January 23, 2017 and ends on Saturday, March 18, 2017. Information and

TOWNSHIP WELCOMES ALL YOUTH BOWLERS TO ITS WINTER BOWLING PROGRAM —Edison Recreation is sponsoring a
weekly bowling program for boys and girls between the ages of 5 to 14 on Mondays at the Stelton Lanes, 1665 Stelton Road

ENGINEERING FOR KIDS—Engineering for Kids® offers science, technology, engineering and mathematics education to children 4-14
years old via unique, fun-filled, challenging hands-on activities. In our programs, children build problem solving skills and discover how
things work while learning how to apply science and math concepts to real world engineering problems. Activities include music

FAMILY JUJITSU PROGRAM—Danzan Ryu Jujitsu is a nonaggressive form of self-defense in which participants will learn how to
escape from various holds, hold an opponent on the ground, fall safely and throw an attacker. They will also grow in their leadership
abilities and self-confidence. Classes are open to all ages, (age 7 – adult) and are led by Professor Barb Gessner, 7th degree blackbelt,
who has been teaching Jujitsu for 44 years. Student instructors from Rutgers Jujitsu Club assist with instruction. For more information,
