MATS L.A. returns to the Pasadena Convention Center Jan.
13-15! With 135 vendors, there’s something for everyone. Split
among three separate halls, returning and first-time exhibitors will
have exclusive demos from top talent, premiere new products and offer discounts to attendees. Royal & Langnickel Brush Mfg., Kryolan
Professional Make-up, Make Up For Ever, Kat Von D Beauty, Dose
of Colors and Dermaflage are show sponsors.
Don’t miss highly regarded beauty make-up artist Sam Fine. Fine
has worked his magic on Naomi Campbell, Queen Latifah, Beyoncé
and more. He is the best-selling author of Fine Beauty: Beauty Basics
and Beyond for African-American Women.
In a keynote discussion, editorial and runway artist Lottie will talk
about her career. Her work can be seen in Vogue, Elle, V, Numero and
Love.
Nearly 30 years ago, one film established what we know as the
quintessential vampire look: The Lost Boys. Get all the make-up secrets
from that iconic film when Oscar winners Ve Neill, Greg Cannom
and Steve LaPorte join moderator Paul Davis and other special guests
onstage to discuss their work on the film.
Discover what inspired the Star Trek Beyond make-up team, during a panel discussion led by Oscar winner Joel Harlow, who served
as the film’s make-up designer. And in what’s sure to be a memorable
discussion, veteran make-up effects artists Steve Johnson and Sandy
Collora will discuss Johnson’s new book—Rubberhead: Sex, Drugs and
Special FX—which will make its debut at IMATS L.A.
Celebrate 100 years of the Westmore family’s make-up artistry
influence, when Oscar winner Michael Westmore talks history and
what’s on the horizon (including a new book). Also, Dany Sanz, Make
Up For Ever’s creator and artistic director, will celebrate the brand’s
anniversary at IMATS. Celebrity artist Sir John will demonstrate an
artistic editorial method. Make-up artist and filmmaker Amber Talarico’s What It Takes documentary will have a red carpet celebration
at IMATS Saturday night.
Film and TV creations will be displayed in the IMATS Make-up
Museum, while the Battle of the Brushes student make-up competition will introduce new themes for 2017. The beauty-category theme
is International Beauty; the character-category theme is Guardians of
the Galaxy. International make-up students will race to create winning
looks and take home cash and prizes.
The show opens on Jan. 13 with master classes by make-up effects
artist Rod Maxwell.
