PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 15, 2016 New exhibit and official opening of “Evolution of a Sculptor” by artist Kevin P. Comeau at Le Trécarré Art Gallery CHURCH POINT (NS) — The Arts Council Conseil des arts de la Baie is pleased to present a new solo show by professional artist Kevin P. Comeau. "Evolution of a Sculptor" is a two-month exhibit beginning September 7 until the end of October 2016, in the Gallery Le Trécarré at Rendez-vous de la Baie (Université Sainte-Anne) in Church Point (Nova Scotia). The opening will take place on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 2:00pm. The new exhibit highlights the sculptor’s work since the beginning of his artistic endeavours until today, with his wood, steel, soap stone, plaster and clay sculptures. The collection shows his ‘evolution’ with different mediums, technics, tools and his own evolution as an emerging artist. From Meteghan River on Nova Scotia’s French shore of Baie Sainte-Marie, Acadian sculptor Kevin Comeau has strong ties to his Métis roots. The artist is honoured to be able to share his passion of sculpting through this art exhibit. "My new ‘adventure’ with clay will be one of the focal points of this show, highlighting my portraiture clay busts”, explains the sculptor. His collection is a result of almost 20 years of artistic work. Even more amazing is the fact that the sculptor is completely self-taught. His personal quest is to be able to create what he desires to create, and to overcome the stereotypes associated with his culture. Kevin Comeau wants to share with the public his vision of art and his definition of a non-traditional Acadian artist. Some of the pieces on display during this art exhibition include never-before-seen creations, newly completed sculptures and popular works by the artist. A relief sculpted in natural Bay of Fundy clay; “Mother and Cub” in Canadian soap stone; and “Pursuit of Paradis” carved in a full size apple tree, will be part of the exposition. The art show will be open to the public from 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday, during the months of September and October (2016). The official opening will take place on Sunday, September 11, at 2:00pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
