The Akashi-Kaikyo bridge linking Kobe City and Awajishima Island in Japan is yet to be the longest
spanning bridge ever built (1991 m). The bridge (still under construction) survived the Kobe
earthquake in 1995.

The Sutong Bridge, in Jiangsu province, China, is presently the longest cabel-strayed bridge in the
world. The bridge spans 1088 m across the Yangtze River and links Suzhou and Natong, which gives it
its name. The total length of the bridge is 6 km and the inverted Y-towers is more than 300 m.

The High Coast Bridge (Högakustenbron) is a suspension bridge and is for the moment the longest
bridge in Sweden, 1210 m. The name Högakusten (High Coast) refers to the surrounding area and the
crossing of the mouth of the Ångermanälven.
