Miss Frances
Bowles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Bowles, residing west at town
sold a basket of eggs to L. B. McNutt.
On one of the eggs Miss Bowles wrote
her name and the town she lived in.
Mr. McNutt sold the eggs to the Fear~
Campbell Co., and they. were shipped
east. A few wAeks later Miss Bowles
received a letter from Benjamin Altman,
asking her to correspond with him.
He is in the merchant tailoring business
.at Meredtih, N. H., and the letter said
that he was 20 years old. Several letters
were exchanged between the two parties
. who have never seen each other, and a
: few weeks ago an exchange of pictures I
! was made.
Miss Bowles is a student 'in
. the Clarks Hill high school, and it was
reported she was engaged to the young
business man in New Hampshire. She
said that she is too young to marry and
that there is nothing ronlatic in the·

! Have the waffle-iron thoroughly heated, and greased with melted suet.
\ Turn the iron several times so that every crevice will be greased. Open
it, pour in the batter, close the iron, turn it over, and bake the waffles
until they are a golden-brown.

taken from the stone. (The honow place tor it can be seen in the comer stone which remains on
the school lot) On papers written in pencil were children's & teacher's names. They were in bad
shape and are gone. The only surviving article fro the box Will a 1926 • 21 b.ketball schedule with
ack. On the lower page, top right, a reduced copy is seen which shows the weather damage. The 6
pieces shown full size were painted so the rmmbers & letters would show. The other two are ads
from • very old Claab Hill News.
