will be held out of school hours.
Senior Finals will be in two divisions:
Senior Champion Schools Basketball – Teams will nominate for this division and will include all
specialist basketball schools and the PSA and IGGSA champion school and any other winning team
from the various leagues. Teams will compete in a round robin competition with the winning school
in both boys and girls being eligible to attend the National Schools Championships conducted by
Basketball Australia.
Senior All Schools Basketball – Teams will play in a knockout competition. Winning teams will be
the champions of this division.
Schools are only permitted to play in ONE division in the Senior Finals.
Junior League - finals will be held at the Bendat Basketball Centre using a one day carnival format
over two days for schools north and south of the river. The winning teams from each carnival will
play off in a grand final time and date to be determined by the Schools Organising Committee.
5. Venues
The venues for the round robin will be arranged by the competing school. This should be on a home
and away basis when possible. The venues for the finals will be neutral, and will be booked and paid for
by School Sport WA.
6. Fixtures
The fixtures (days and times of competition) for the round robin will be set up by the League Coordinators in co-operation with all school representatives of their League. Girl’s games are to be
played on a Monday afternoon and the Boy’s games are to be played on a Tuesday afternoon.
These days are subject to negotiation between schools for individual games, however if an alternative
agreement cannot be reached by both schools, these allocated days must be adhered to.
7. Game Timing
The timing of all finals games will be 4 x 8 minute quarters; fully timed (the clock will stop on all whistles).
To get teams ready for this style of game it is suggested that the round robin games be played by the
same timing method if possible, but this is not mandatory. 4 x 8 minute quarters can be played if both
coaches are agreeable, if not, 2 x 20 minute halves should be played.
8. Referees
The finals games will be refereed by qualified Basketball WA referees.
For ALL round robin games, schools in each League must supply ONE competent referee.
Referees used by schools must have refereed previously (Students or external referees) or have
significant knowledge of the rules of basketball (teachers).
9. Team Make-up
The teams in this competition may consist of between five and twelve players.
10. Numbers
The following numbers may be worn on player uniforms:
4 through 15; 20 through 25; 30 through 35; 40 through 45; and 50 through 55.
ACC vs SSWA ALL STARS GAME
The inaugural ACC vs SSWA Boys and Girls All Stars games were held in 2014. Following its
great success this has become an annual event. The date for the 2017 All Stars game is Sunday
15 October, the games will be held at Bendat Basketball Centre.
Throughout the senior competition coaches of all teams are asked to nominate best players from
each round robin game, in a 3, 2, 1 voting system. This information will be used to assist with the
selection of the SSWA All-star Teams.
ACC will hold trials each year for the selection of their team.
The winning coaches of the Champion Schools Competition will be offered the position of Head
Coach of the All-star Team and the All Schools Champion will be offered the assistant Coach
position.
