OBJECTIVES
CONTEXT
These two main issues are declined in different objectives and steps:
Migration and social cohesion issues are a priority for the Council of Europe which
defines social cohesion as "the capacity of a society to ensure the welfare of all its
members, to minimize disparities and avoid polarisation ". The influence of
immigration on social cohesion is one of the major issues of the future of Europe and
one of the priorities of the European Union.
However, the migrant unemployment rate is of about 21% against 10% for nationals of
Member States. Such a situation falls within the particular context of the economic
crisis and a rise of populism and xenophobia in a growing number of EU countries,
targeted against the migrant public. Many are thus exposed to exclusion in
employment, housing, health and education. They have to face numerous barriers that
prevent them from integrating into the host societies.
The project brings together 6 partners from 4 countries bordering the Mediterranean
(Spain, France, Greece, Italy) with different approaches and experiences of migration,
all engaged in the training and the inclusion of non-EU migrant populations, mainly
those coming from North African countries.
STAKES
DIME aims to improve the education and training offer for migrants in order to favour
their integration and promote social cohesion. The project designers therefore propose
to:
Develop a referential of formal and non-formal skills necessary for the
inclusion of migrant people
Elaborate and implement new interactive learning modules, pedagogical
methods and training tools based on the learning processes, the
transversality, a set of processes that will facilitate the socio-cultural and
economic integration.
To analyse, compare, evaluate different training methodologies in partner
countries in order to identify the most effective settings
To consider cultural, linguistic, social and professional barriers in the training
provided
To build contents, methods and educational tools that facilitate a successful
integration
To verify its relevance amongst the targeted public as part of an experiment
To ensure their transfer and dissemination in the European area, to promote
them to the countries of origin.
ACTIVITIES AND PRODUCTIONS
The main activities of the DIME project will take place between September 2015 and
August 2018. They will include:
An analysis of reception and inclusion policies for migrants
An analysis of existing training practices and the identification of good
practices
The formalising of the framework of formal and non-formal competences
The building of training modules
The testing of these modules with migrants
The experimentation feedback and formalising of training modules
The dissemination of results via a dedicated website.
TARGET GROUPS

To the migrant public : Youth and adults (+ 18 years old), from outside the EU
(non-EU), legally residing in the territory regardless of their status (refugee,
