YOUTH FELLOWSHIP ANNOUNCEMENTS FYI The church’s website is blakeschapel.org To access the Youth Fellowship’s calendar, go to http://blakeschapel.org/youthcalendar.html To access the church’s calendar, go to http://blakeschapel.org/calendar.html eTeen is a Bible Study for those in middle and high school. They meet most Mondays at Blake’s Chapel from 6:30 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. Supper is provided. Workbooks are provided for the students to do their own Bible study each week. There is a time for small groups to meet to discuss what was learned during the week. Currently there are 3 groups – 6th grade girls, girls 7th grade and up. We all come together at the end of the night in the sanctuary. During this time the week’s lesson is once again reviewed and we learn how to apply the scripture studied in our lives. We also worship in music at this time. We are currently studying the book of Acts. Students are welcome to join at any time. Fundraisers We offer a lay-away plan for the big trips we take. We go to Big Splash in Florida each September (the weekend after Labor Day). This trip is expected to cost around $325, not including spending money. Big Splash is when the other youth groups in our denomination get together and worship together. We also go into either Disney World or Universal Studios (mostly Universal). While we are there, various Christian bands come to the park to perform. This year we are going to Big Ski, for the first time in a long time. This takes place in West Virginia. Again, other youth groups from our denomination are there. We get together to worship and also go to Winterplace to tube (sometimes people ski or snowboard). If you would like to put money towards these trips on lay-away, just give it to Shannon. Receipts will be provided. If Bibles are brought on Wednesday night, 50 cents (each time) will be credited toward their trip expenses. Currently the youth are selling chocolate roses and John 3:16 bracelets. On January 19th, each youth present took 10 bracelets with them, along with order forms. If the bracelets are not sold, they need to be returned. The bracelets sell for $1 and the roses sell for $2. For each bracelet sold, 50 cents will be credited to their account. For each rose sold, at least $1.21 will be credited to their account. Supplies are limited so as they are sold or orders are taken, Shannon needs to know as soon as possible to ensure all orders are taken care of before Valentine’s Day. The youth will be hosting a yard sale on February 18th, beginning at 7:00 a.m. Parents, tables can be rented for $5 each if you would like to take advantage of this and sell your personal yard sale items or handmade items. Money collected for the table rentals will go to Penny Crusade (our church’s missions program). The youth will also have a bake sale that day and sell breakfast items as well. Donations of baked goods are needed for that day. Proceeds from the bake sale and breakfast will be split between the youth (for trip expenses) and Penny Crusade. In order to benefit, the youth has to be present and help. We will try to have as many fundraising opportunities as possible to ease the financial burden of these trips. One thing to start planning for is a silent auction. Each youth has to contribute to this in order to benefit from it. This will probably take place in the summer, so this gives you plenty of time to prepare. Pinterest has a lot of ideas for gift baskets, etc.! Service Project On March 25th at 2:00 p.m., the ladies of the church are hosting a Fun Pun Fashion Show as a fundraiser for Penny Crusade. They will be asking for volunteers to help with this. More details to come. ANNOUNCEMENTS CAN ALSO BE FOUND ON THE YOUTH’S CALENDAR PAGE ON THE CHURCH’S WEBSITE. WE WILL TRY OUT BEST TO KEEP IT UPDATED!
