About Us …Richmond Mental Health Consumer and Friends Society (RCFC) is a consumer-driven, non-profit organization that provides peer support, resource
information, volunteer opportunities and a community-based therapeutic recreation program. The purpose of Therapeutic Recreation is to provide positive experiences
whereby each participant has an opportunity to learn new skills, socialize and build relationships, improve health and fitness, engage in creative or intellectual pursuits…and,
of course, to have fun! Our programs are community-based and we endeavor to provide support and encouragement for each individual to reach their potential.

Full Day Trips and Social Events…
For these activities, usually Tuesdays and Thursdays, unless stated otherwise, we meet at Richmond Library, inside the lobby. We will specify whether we have a van or
whether we are taking public transit. All transportation costs are covered by us, except for unusually long trips or ferry fees. Admission costs (if applicable) are specified
with each activity, and due to the length, we recommend that you either bring or buy a lunch. On these events listed below, PLEASE SIGN UP to ensure there is adequate space and/or food & supplies, as they are popular and fill up quickly. Our meeting place, the Richmond Public Library is located at Minoru and Granville Avenue, and
is a 5-minute walk from Richmond Centre. If you are new, and require further information about our programs, or require 1:1 peer support, please contact us at the phone
number below. Also, when space becomes an issue, participants who are residents of Richmond have priority. Finally, we will return to the Richmond Centre bus loop
between 4:00 – 5:00 pm (unless specified otherwise). However, in situations out of our control (i.e.: heavy traffic, vehicle breakdown, tunnel closure, snow-storm or other
unforeseen event), all participants must carry extra medications in the event that we are held up, and cannot return to Richmond until several hours later. We do not anticipate this happening, however for your own safety and peace of mind, please be aware and be prepared. Please dress according to weather that day. Our full day trips
and social events for this month are as follows:
RCFC Sing along club- Join Jose and Cory to sing, write and play fun songs in a group atmosphere.
Movie Mornings– Ever wonder what happened to what’s his name. You know your favorite actor from the 90’s. Well we have no idea, but we will show his greatest movies in
our fun movie viewing club. As always popcorn will be served. Staff: Cory, Andrew & Jose
Book Club – We all get together to talk about books we are either reading, have read or ones we want to read. Staff: Cory & Jose
Community Adventure- Let’s have a adventure downtown Vancouver checking out stuff, then to wrap up the day we will play a fun game of pool. Staff: Cory & Andrew
Lunch out–Cost $5- Each month we pick a unique (read not a big chain) restaurant somewhere in Greater Vancouver, so we can sit and dine in high fashion. Location is
decided on the day of this event. Staff: Cory & Jose
Afternoon @ the Movies –Cost: $5- An end of the month tradition So mark your calendar and get out to see the best of Hollywood. Staff: Cory & Jose
Board Games: Axis and Allies– This is a fun game where you get your chance to rule the world or at least the board. If you don’t know how to play we will teach you. Staff: Cory
Ice Skating-Cost: $1– We will do our best to do a little skating, then go for snack afterwards. Staff: Cory and Jose
Snow Shoeing—Cost $5 -Join us as we visit the slopes and walk all over this winter wonderland. Staff: Cory and Andrew
NEW PARTICIPANTS: If you are new, or need more information on any of the planned activities please see Cory to fill out the necessary
forms. You can contact us at: (604) 675-3977 (ext 4) As a welcoming gift, during your first month of participation we will pay one of your
activities, so there is no reason to wait any longer to get out and have some fun with us! (Please note: this excludes the sign up activities).
