High School Information Night
All Renaissance eighth graders and their parents are invited to attend our annual High School Information Event. At this event there will be representatives from a variety of local high schools that will
share information about their programs. The representatives will be available to answer questions.
This is a great opportunity to collect information in your effort to select the right high school.
Location: Renaissance Cafeteria
When: Tuesday, January 13th from 6:00-7:00pm
ESUHSD Magnet Program Night
All Renaissance 8th graders and their parents are invited and are strongly encouraged to attend the East
Side Union High School District Magnet Program Event. ESUHSD has twenty different magnet programs across their high schools. These programs are designed to help equip students for careers in:
arts, media and entertainment; business, marketing, and management; computers, engineering, and science, heath; and hospitality, public and human service. Many Renaissance alumni have participated in
ESUHSD magnet programs and have had very positive experiences. This event is an excellent opportunity for all 8th grade students and their parents to learn more about magnet programs and the enrollment process. Please attend!

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Art, Speech, and Essay Contest
All Renaissance students are invited to participate in our annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Art, Speech,
and Essay Contest. The intent behind this contest is to honor Dr. Martin Luther King’s work by encouraging one another to reflect upon social growth brought about by MLK’s work and to encourage others
to make the world a better place. Students may participate in one or multiple contest categories. All
creations should be connected to and inspired by a statement made by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. All
student work must be submitted by Friday, January 16, 2015. Students should consult the MLK Contest
handout for more details.

will be included in this year’s yearbook. Baby pictures must be submitted by January 12, 2015.
