Family Violence Prevention

Family Violence Prevention
It’s A Workplace Matter
Did you know?
February 12 to 18 is PEI Family Violence Prevention Week.
Family violence can affect people of any age, gender, religion or
economic status.

Family violence happens on PEI and is likely happening within the
community your business services.
The PEI Public Service Commission is releasing Guidelines for
Addressing Family Violence and the Workplace. Watch for them.
Your business can take a stand, with others in the community, to help
raise awareness and bring an end to family violence.
Take a stand and let Islanders know that your business believes that
abuse of any type is wrong.
Here are some great ways to get involved:
Show your colours
Purple is the colour of family violence awareness. Wear purple on
Wednesday February 15.
Add colour to your store front with a purple display.
Make a display in your store of purple: clothing, flowers, towels,
dishes, office supplies, balloons, streamers….anything purple.
Change up your store lighting and go purple for a day.
Wear purple ribbons this week to show your support for people
affected by family violence. Need ribbons? We can help! Contact
[email protected]
Place a Family Violence Prevention Week 2017 poster near a cash
register or post an image on your digital display
www.stopfamilyviolence.pe.ca/2017campaign.
Get creative
Make a display of family violence prevention information for your
customers (hint: include some cookies and beverages to encourage
people to stop). Call 902-368-6712 or email [email protected] for
your information package
Create a theme product for the week, a cookie or cup cake decorated
with purple icing, sprinkles or a purple ribbon.
Spread the word through your business network
Add a family violence prevention message or picture to your business
emails this week.
See www.stopfamilyviolence.pe.ca/2017campaign for images.
Send out a tweet. See attached list with some ideas.
Include a message in your advertising to recognize Family Violence
Prevention Week.
Take a picture of your team wearing purple and post it to your
Facebook account.
Share a picture with [email protected] to be included in the Family
Violence Prevention Week Online Gallery.
Get active
Join one of the many community walks happening across PEI and
show your business’ support.
Implement guidelines to address family violence in your workplace and
challenge other business to do so, too.
Make a donation to help people affected by family violence
Hold a dress down day and collect donations for Anderson House or
other organizations providing services to persons experiencing family
violence.
Organize an event to collect donations and items. See the Anderson
House needs list: http://www.fvps.ca/donations-needed/
Thank you for your support!
