2017 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

The Melges 24 Italian Class Association is proud to introduce
its bid for hosting the 2017 Melges 24 World Championship.
The italian peninsula can offer a wide selection of premium sailing resorts
with the best sail racing and weather conditions in the European and
Mediterranean Area.
Most of these locations have been already involved and “tested” hosting
previous top Melges events.
The italian fleet has been in the past the first and main generator of the
fleet in Europe.
The Italian Class is now working hard to rebuild its strenght after the recent
& past vicissitudine.
The actual Class Board is working hard together with BPSE (in person of
Riccardo Simoneschi) and Melges Europe (in person of Federico Michetti
& Luisa Bambozzi) to rebuild the higher standing of the Class and its
boost.
The above mentioned Team is now making arrangements to connect the
2015 Melges 24 Italian Circuit in the well known Audi tron Sailing Series
format.

At this stage the Italian Class already received many bid from main venues /
Yacht Club interested to host the 2017 Worlds.
The Italian Class consider fair and much better for economicl reasons to
introduce a bid comparing the different services / benefits provided by each
location.
The Regatta would count on the high standards and the well known
mechanism of Melges Europe and BPSE’s management and organization.
One of the best sailing spot in Italy, located in Tuscany, 130 km far from
ROME.
Already tested with Melges 32 and Melges 20 races in 2014, the location
offers perfect sail racing conditions (average of wind 12 – 14 with flat water).
The local Yacht Club and Municipality have already proven a warm
hospitality and a full range of tailor made services and facilities.
The Circolo della Vela Talamone is ready to host the Event in september
2017.

The well known Porto Rotondo located in the north /east side of Sardinia is
probably one of the top 5 sail racing location in the world and one fo the most
glamour holiday spot in Europe.
Next to Porto Cervo, Porto Rotondo offers a different race course with
amazing e better wind conditions (range from 8 to 20 knots)
The Yacht Club Porto Rotondo already organized the 2013 Melges 32
Worlds and previous Audi Regattas (Farr40, TP52, Melges 20). Porto
Rotondo is now ready to schedule the 2017 Melges 24 Worlds in June or
September for one of the most fascinating Melges 24 experience ever.

Torbole , Riva del Garda and Malcesine are the 3 top locations ready to host
the 2017 Melges 24 Main Event.
Each one is able to provide the highest standard in terms of organization and
technical know-how.

The Sicily and the town of Trapani are best choice in the heart of
Mediterranean Sea.
The race course of Trapani has already hosted the Italian Act of America’s
Cup Series and is one of the best sailing arena in the world. It grants a
perfect wind range and weather conditions and offers a huge exposure for
partners and sponsors.
In 2015 the city of Trapani is going to host 2 Melges main events (Melges 32
Worlds and Melges 20 Europeans) and it is the best “fine tuning” on the road
of one of the best Melges 24 Worlds ever scheduled in 2017.
