Logan Taylor Pence Scholarship
For Monroe High School Seniors

The Logan Taylor Pence Scholarship was established in 2016 and will be awarded annually to a senior
from Monroe High School who is enrolled to attend Eastern Kentucky University. This scholarship
was created through donations of family and friends who wish to honor the memory of a loving, kind,
full-of-life young man.
Logan was “out there getting it” when he was lost in a tragic ATV accident at his favorite place, Lake
Cumberland. Logan was a 2010 graduate of Monroe High School and a 2014 graduate from Eastern
Kentucky University where he earned a degree in Manufacture Engineering. During his years at
Monroe he was a leader and excellent student. He was a member of the football team, wrestling
team and played Lacrosse for Lebanon High School, as Monroe did not have a team.
While attending EKU he was a walk-on football player for 2 years, a member of the Sigma Alpha
Epislon Fraternity, as well as a member of the Lacrosse Team. After graduating Logan worked for the
Hyster/Yale Group located in Berea, Kentucky just south of Richmond.

Logan’s love of life will live on through a $1000 scholarship, awarded annually to a Monroe High
School Senior who plans to pursue a 4 yr. degree at Eastern Kentucky University, Logan’s alma mater.
In establishing this scholarship, Logan’s family and friends wish to recognize the fine young man who
lived life to the fullest.
Eligibility
In order to qualify for the Logan Taylor Pence Scholarship, the applicant must be a senior at Monroe
High School and plan to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree at Eastern Kentucky University. Minimum 2.0
GPA required.
How to Apply
1. Complete the one-page essay, typed.
2. Provide two (2) letters of recommendations – one must be from a teacher.
3. Complete the application form.
4. Submit the application form, transcripts and essay as directed below:

2. Completed application and materials (essays, transcripts, recommendations) should be mailed

3. All application materials (essays, transcripts, recommendations) must be submitted together,
with this application form. Incomplete submissions will not be considered. All applications
must be postmarked on or before January 17, 2017. At this time, the Foundation is unable to
accept applications via fax
Award
There will be one (1) $1,000 scholarship awarded.
Selection
A committee consisting of 5 individuals will determine the recipient of the award. The scholarship
will be awarded at the senior awards night and be paid directly to Eastern Kentucky University on
behalf of the recipient.
