the Children’s World’s Fair
presented by
EMBARK ON AN EXCITING TREK ACROSS THE GLOBE AT THE 18TH ANNUAL
CHILDREN’S WORLD’S FAIR – SATURDAY, MARCH 19 AT THE LOUISIANA CHILDREN’S MUSEUM.
Presented by Dow, the Children’s World’s Fair is a unique, daylong journey that explores
cultural diversity in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
Travelers will delight as they enjoy lively, cultural performances and explore the games,
music, literature, native attire, crafts, and flavors of destinations including: Jamaica, Japan,
Mexico, Norway, Scotland, Senegal, Tanzania, and Vietnam.
“Children’s World’s Fair celebrates what is unique and universal to countries and cultures
around the world,” said Julia Bland, LCM Chief Executive Officer. “In anticipation of Voyage
to Vietnam, a traveling exhibit coming to the Museum this summer, fairgoers will learn
about the culture and festivals of Vietnam along with seven other diverse countries. Since
its inception, Children’s World’s Fair has introduced families to more than 100 unique
countries!” added Bland.
The intergenerational journey will begin with the Early Explorers Party from 10:00 a.m. until
12:00 p.m. Early explorers will get a first look at the country exhibits and young globetrotters
will receive an exclusive party treat bag. Early Explorer packages begin at $100 for a family
four-pack; individual tickets are $30.
At 12:00 p.m., all adventurers are invited to join the fun. General admission tickets are $20
per person. Advance general admission tickets for LCM members are $16 per person. All
general admission tickets purchased on the day of the event are $20 per person.
Please note: The Louisiana Children’s Museum will close at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18
in preparation for the Children’s World’s Fair.

Dear Members,
Happy New Year! Best wishes to you for your
2016 journey!
Perhaps it is somewhat trite to note that “we
are always on a journey,” but at this point
in the Museum’s history, that is quite a true
statement. The journeys of 2015 took us to
many neighborhoods throughout the city with
programs and partnerships, and brought
us to new heights in our focus areas of
literacy and STEM education in our exhibits,
education and events. A highlight by any measure was our
trip to the White House, where we received the National
Medal for Museum and Library Service, awarded by the
Institute of Museum and Library Services, and delivered by
First Lady Michelle Obama.
This fall the Museum will turn 30! That kind of passage
of time means that we have welcomed two generations of
children through our Big Blue Doors! What a joy to have
second generations coming back with memories of playing
in the grocery store, standing inside a bubble, or traveling
around the world during the Children’s World’s Fair. To have
childhood memories shared by two generations in one
family is a great honor for those of us working at the LCM.
We thank you for making that happen!
Another benchmark is the continued success of our campaign to
relocate the Museum to beautiful City Park, where we will be much
more accessible – and will enjoy the spectacular outdoor setting for
play, discovery, and exploration of nature. We expect to share more
about our project this spring, when our journey will begin to look very
different indeed.
Last summer the LCM installed an exhibit called Katrina Voices,
designed to offer reflections from children of all ages about the storm,
our city, and the future our children will inherit. A “Promise Tree” is
now filled with hundreds of promises about the journeys for children
in our city, and I wanted to make sure that you see a few of those
promises as you begin this year’s journey.
Many Thanks…
Thank you to all of the families who
came out to celebrate our Fifth Annual
Festival of Trees Family Fun Day and
participated in holiday games,
cookie decorating, festive
crafts, and much more! The
Louisiana Children’s Museum
would also like to thank the
