Thomas Jefferson was given the task of drafting the Declaration.
He had to explain to the world why the colonies were going to separate from
Britain.
❖ Continental congress appointed a committee to write Declaration of
Independence few weeks after the British left Boston.

Eyes.
His explanation was simple, but revolutionary.
“We hold these truths to be self- evident,that all men are created equal, that they
are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights,that among these are
