Application for First Christian Church Fund
Scholarship or Grant
First Christian Church of Kansas City, MO, served faithfully in downtown KC for over 150 years. Through
the congregation’s commitment and passion, multiple congregations were started, people in the urban core were
served and opportunities for people to experience and serve God flourished. The remaining members in 2014
desired the funds from the sale of the building continue to empower future ministries. It is with this desire in mind
the FCC KC, MO Fund for Ministries has been established.
Application for the First Christian Church KCMO, Fund for Ministries will be submitted to the Christian
Church (DOC) of Greater Kansas City before December 31st of the year preceding the period for which the grant or
scholarship is being sought. Of the funds available, 30% may be awarded to African American projects within the
MOKAN Fellowship. The remaining 70% may be awarded to other projects related to urban ministry.
Applications will be reviewed by the five member Fund Review Team. The Fund Review Team will
consist of the Chair, and two members of the MOKAN Fellowship, as long as MOKAN Fellowship is a functioning
fellowship group of the CC of GKC, and two members from other congregations active in the CC of GKC. Grants
normally shall not exceed $1,000. Upon application approval, 50% of grant funds shall be disbursed in March; the
remaining 50% will be disbursed by October 15. Any interest funds not disbursed will be held and used for grants in
future years.
If awarded, a progress report with supporting documentation must be submitted to the Fund Review Team.
The progress report will be due on September 15, and a final report due on December 15. Failure to submit these
reports will result in the repayment of all grant monies received.
