Thoughts
NIC: She contacted me at the end of last year and expressed interest in possible sponsorship of programs,
and said they could potentially do a bug program, or even one on earthworms. Have to contact her for better
details. MAY: FABULOUS! Have had them 2xs.
COM: Commander of the American Legion brought other veterans out to tell their stories. They brought out
a WWII jeep, small flags and comic books to all the kids and sang songs.
MAY: Aggravating, Late HOM: Kids like him.
STA: 45 minute show - totally worth it!
HOM: Excellent
STA: we enjoyed her
STA: Awesome! Very Interactive & Educational AUB: Good, but had to reschedule
They are tied in with Athens Memorial Park & Athens Leisure Services Department. They have a rep from
the zoo come out and educate the kids about wild life. It’s mostly rescued and surrendered wild life.
COM: Jenny was engaging and did a great job explaining the animals habitats and survival. The show is
dependant upon what wildlife they currently have at the park. There were animal pelts, feathers, snake
skins, and 3 animals for the children to see.
HOM: Excellent
**** Please contact Kelli McDaniel at [email protected] for information on this vendor.
HOM: Looking for a GREAT Tween/Teen program? Jim has done several of the movie making activities at
our place! Kids love him! I worked with him at the Primary school as well, so I've seen some of his
stories/activities he has done with the kids. I have not had him actually do a large summer program, but he's
got to start somewhere!
NIC: Good program. Fun experiments for our teens, just enough science to keep it interesting. Note: have to
pay ahead of time, not at time of program because they use independent teachers. AUB: paid 1/2 ahead of
time and 1/2 at event.
JEF: Great performers. Good for kids and adults. HOM: check to see if they are still together
BRL: Did a great job for us.
BRL: We use them for our "Local Hero" program. They are excellent. They read a story, answered any and
all questions about the police department and brought a squad car for the kids to climb through and explore.
JEF: Excellent!! Very professional. An amazing performer! NIC: Amazing! I think I've seen him perform 7
times and he is hands-down the best. Our adults loved it as much as the kids. He promotes reading and
storytelling too. COM: We like him. WIN: engaging, kids loved him, very professional.
HOM: Excellent!
AUB: Great with the kids STA: kids adore him, he teaches at Statham Elementary. This past summer we
scheduled him and he canceled a week later. He gave us plenty of notice, but it made us question his
reliability.
AUB: Did a great job; very interesting; good for elementary age children.
AUB: Good, but late.
NIC: Great program, fun for teens
WIN: Good show, also used live snakes COM: We liked them. JEF: Excellent!
NIC: So much fun! Informative. Elizabeth is great, talented, knowledgeable, passionate regarding her work,
and works great with the teens.
MAY: Lured the children into comas NIC: Ha! Have to agree with Maysville, one of our least attended
programs and just dull, dull, dull and riddled with dropped puppets. Great concept, but poor execution. WIN:
Agree with MAY and NIC HOM: Love them!!
STA: Kevin was awesome and taught the kids new dance moves and had wonderful clean music that even
had the parents up dancing. He brought two assistants with him and also brought a photo booth with props.
They took pictures of the kids and even printed them out for them!
MAY: I recommend her highly! She does a variety of classes from making jewelry, clay and pottery classes.
For adults she does Go Green Classes. She charges for supplies not the actual instruction. She is easy to
work with, wants the supply money up front. She is great with children and adults, BUT she is very religious
and when booking her remind her that she needs to keep her opinions to herself.
NIC: Traveling star lab was AMAZING and the instructor was extremely knowledgeable and great with kids.
Would definitely use them again in a heartbeat.
NIC: Absolutely fantastic. The foam party was amazing. He can do lots of other stuff as well, including snow.
He even offered to bring his magician stuff in case bad weather forced our outdoor program inside.
COM: Interactive and fun local author.
AUB: Good, not great BRL: our second year having him - kids really enjoy COM: He forgot our show was at
11, and was 45 minutes late. Did a good job once he got here. HOM: Love him!
AUB: No Show. It was an epic let-down. The person initially contacted is no longer there. It may be worth a
try again with new people, but overall - not recommended.
MAY: Fair NIC: We've had him several times, and enjoyed every one, but his shows are now less magic
and more informational, multimedia
STA: not the best performance. Did not hold kids attention; program runs a little long. BRL: he was a good
performer but not many people showed up for his program – doesn’t seem to have good name recognition
NIC: not to popular - unfortunately. WIN: great musician; kids loved it; Incorporated books
COM: They brought out their crime scene truck and let the kids look at all the cool stuff. They also explained
finger printing and did a mock crime scene. Forensic truck was awesome, great for all ages!
STA: Her enthusiasm is contagious! STA: always good, very interactive, held kid's attention. Brand new
program each year!
HOM: Very good program (late 1/4 programs)
NIC: Darlene is awesome!
BRL: House of Clay does programs for us at least once every year – she does a wonderful Christmas
ornament program and her summer program was lots of fun for the kids – she is always well-prepared!
AUB: Good but late (dealing with illness) NIC: Wonderful storyteller and great with kids, but also almost an
hour late here due to traffic in Atlanta
JEF: Very professional performer. Good for Latin Culture theme. Must book w/ Young Audiences
BRL & HOM: Have had him twice - enjoyed - would have again.
NIC: Good, engaging storyteller. She told scary stories to our teens. Not many people showed, so I didn't get
to see her with a crowd, but we have bad storyteller juju here.
STA:The two performers that came did a wonderful job engaging the kids and teaching them about healthy
eating. The best part is it was FREE!!
AUB: Great Job! Laughed out loud. Very fun. COM: His show this year was fantastic! STA: always does
an excellent job, the kids love him; book him every year to kick off program. (paid $250 this yea) BRL:
Always good! NIC: Draws a big crowd. Everyone was engaged. HOM: Excellent! WIN: Always our
opener; a crowd favorite.
WIN: Good with the kids NIC: He was fun. The patrons seemed to enjoy him. HOM: Excellent
NIC: Great Family! Who doesn't love llamas?!
JEF: Excellent! Great performer.
STA: Very "Northern" - a little brash & off putting to some of the parents. Show was a little repetitive, but did
mention that she is working on sports theme for next summer (2016)
HOM: love him
WIN: We had Freddie Falcon, mascot of the Atlanta Falcons, and his show was called Freddie's Playbook on
Fitness in keeping with our SRP theme. The discounted rate was $350. He did a great job - he was funny,
interactive, had the kids laughing and moving and will be coming up with a library specific program by next
year (says they are publishing a book). The show was 45 minutes plus every child got an autographed photo
and their photo taken with him.
WIN: Very good FREE program! Kids were fascinated with the milking process! STA: late due to machine
malfunction; kids did not seem to enjoy as much. AUB: Auburn favorite; she does a great job. Kids love!
JEF: Has performed Lizzie Borden, Mary Shelley, Mary Poppins, & "Dickens in December". She is amazing!
Great for YA and adult program.
STA: Show was good but overpriced and too loud and dark for younger children.
BRL: Very good!. I would have back any year.
Unknown: Ron likes to tell stories for adult audiences. A member of Southern Order of Storytellers
(http://southernorderofstorytellers.org/)
BRL: Everyone loved him but was not feeling well so a little off. STA: Excellent program, but I think he has
become very sick.
STA: brought service dog & were punctual.
HOM: Ok, not my favorite magician NIC: I agree. He's Ok, but not the best. STA: no show one year, really
didn't care for him but kids like him
HOM: Kids enjoyed him
NIC: Britt loves to answer ALL of your questions. For a YA audience.
COM: Kids brought their pets on leashes or in boxes. They then took turn parading them and telling us about
their special friend. Those without real animals brought stuffed animals. Fun, free, & easy!
JEF: Great program. Animals nicely taken care of . Nice people to work with. AUB: Sound system would be
good to have; great job have petting zoo & educational program though. NIC: Wonderful! Parents and
children love these guys! WIN: Wonderful! Had educ. show, not petting zoo. MAY: great turnout and patient
with parents/children great hands on experience
AUB: Great job! NIC: Teen workshop is great, too. STA & HOM: very good, always professional
COM: Wonderful turn-out TAL: great! Loved it! Our biggest turn out.
JEF: Very fun and great with kids!
NIC & HOM: great comic drawing workshop. BRL: Very good program, we just have problems getting teens
to any of our programs. AUB: Excellent Job! Great for ages 9 and up. WIN: small group but very good.

HOM: Excellent
HOM: Deals with Bullying: Excellent
BRL: great photo ops for kids/parents - held in Braselton Park
STA: Awesome & free! On time, brought amazing equipment, & drew a big crowd.
STA: Good Program, but too repetitive to book back-to-back years. Every other year is better. AUB: Good
job, but stories could be done in-house. Inexpensive at $125. HOM: Excellent
Unknown: We look forward to doing this every year - great for a hot day - also have water toys for kids to
play with and take as gifts
BRL: Outstanding! Very fun. We have them for water day and they bring their hoses. We also have them
come read for story-time. They read a book, answer all questions about the fire department, and bring a fire
truck for the kids to climb through and explore.
NIC: We had Michael two years ago and he was wonderful! Plus, he leaves you with the special airbrush
paintings he does while he's here. STA: Very Funny, interactive. Would not book back-to-back years.
HOM: Excellent
BRL: Excellent Program. She is the one who dredges the local creek and the kids get to explore the critters.
She also discusses the effects of littering and new construction. She is a town employee, so I don’t know how
it would work for her going to other branches.
AUB: It was an excellent program. Aaron did magic tricks, had live animals that the kids could look at after the show,
and did a lot of audience participation. The surveys were all full of positive feedback and the kids had a great time. I
plan on having him back next summer, and I highly recommend him to you guys as well. BRL: We had Aaron as well,
but we had his magic and juggling show. Everyone loved it!
STA: Wished they had more exotic animals, but the kids loved it!
