SkyDrive
What is SkyDrive? SkyDrive gives you 25GB of online
‘cloud’ based storage, meaning that you can save your
files and access them from anywhere over the internet.
Open a web browser and go to the university homepage – www.worc.ac.uk
Click the ‘Students’ link at the top of the screen
Click the ‘Student Application Portal Login’ button and then enter your
username and password.
From the Student App Portal click the SkyDrive link.
Clicking either the SkyDrive or Office Live links will take you to the same
interface. You will see a listing of the folders and files currently saved on your
SkyDrive and a link to each of the Office Live apps.
Saving to your SkyDrive
To upload a file (this could be a Word or Office document, picture or audio file
etc) click on the Add Files link. You will be prompted to choose a file to
upload; depending on the browser you are using you will be presented with a
slightly different upload interface. The maximum file upload size for a single
file is 100MB. By default files will be uploaded to the My Files section of your
SkyDrive, however you can move files after uploading.
There are extensive options within SkyDrive that allow you to create folders
and organize your content. In addition you can access previous versions of
your files and share them with others in a variety of ways. Clicking on the
checkbox to the left of a file displays a list of additional options as seen below.
You can save directly to your SkyDrive from within any Office 2010
application, instead of using the conventional ‘File > Save As’ method, select:
File > Save & Send > Save to Web. The image below shows the process
through a PC, however you can achieve the same thing on a Mac running
Office 2011. Note that if/when you are prompted for your Windows Live ID,
this is simply your student email address ([email protected]) and the
password that you use to log on to the University PCs.
There is a SkyDrive mobile app available here.
