OCTOBER 1 SATURDAY 9 AM CHIPPEWA CREEK, BRECKSVILLE
RESERVATION, CLEVELAND METRO PARKS Level 3-4, 9 miles, RR. Meet at
the Oak Grove Picnic area in the Brecksville Reservation. Directions: Take I-77 North to
Rte. 21 north to the Brecksville Metro Park entrance on the right (Valley Parkway). Oak
Grove picnic area is on the right. Plenty of parking and RR. Many of the paths and trails
in the Metro Parks intersect and include hike, multipurpose and bridle trails. The level 34 is because of a hiking pace of close to 3 miles an hour with some water breaks, and a
quick lunch break.

OCTOBER 1 SATURDAY 10:30 AM ATWOOD YACHT CLUB Level 3/4, 5 miles,
RR. Meet at Atwood Yacht Club at 2637 Lodge Rd SW Sherrodsville, OH. Directions:
Take I-77 south to the Bolivar exit #93, turn left and follow Rte. 212 through Zoar and
across Rte. 800. Continue on Rte. 212 for 8.9 miles to a blinking light, turn left at Rte.
542. This is Lodge Road and the Yacht Club will be 3.0 miles on the left hand side. We
will be walking the grounds of the Yacht Club and the Atwood Resort as well as a very
lightly traveled Township Road. You can stay for lunch and order from the menu at the
Yacht Club at 12:30 immediately following our hike.

OCTOBER 2 SUNDAY 2 PM SIPPO LAKE EXPLORATION GATEWAY- Level
2, 5 miles, RR at library. Meet at the first parking lot on the right as you arrive. Hike on
the trails around the lake including down to the Marina and over towards Sanders Center.
Directions: Get to the intersection of 12th St. NW and Perry Dr. NW. Go west on 12th
St. to entrance to Exploration Gateway at Sippo Lake Park on the left.

OCTOBER 2 SUNDAY 6:30 PM TRIP PLANNING MEETING FOR 2017 at Patty
Sheppard's house. Member only event.
OCTOBER 5 WEDNESDAY 6 PM JACKSON PARK Level 2, up to 4 laps, RR.
Meet at the parking lot at Jackson Park Track by the gazebo and pond. Directions:
Reach it from Fulton or Wales Rd. (Rte.241). Parking lot is ½ mile west of Wales Rd.

OCTOBER 8 SATURDAY 10 AM DEER LICK CAVE LOOP Level 3-4, 6 miles,
RR. (9000 Chippewa Creek Drive, Brecksville) We will hike the Deer Lick Cave Loop
trail and finish with the short Wildflower Loop trail and Prairie Loop Trail trails. Deer
Lick Cave trail is described as a long, rugged 4 mile hike with 10 hills. The other two are
easier. Directions: Take I-77 N to Rte. 82 (exit 149). Turn right on Rte. 82 going east
until you see the sign for Brecksville Reservation (When you see a BP station on your
left, the Brecksville sign is less than ½ mile further on Rte. 82). Turn right into the park
and continue straight less than 1/2 mile to the Brecksville Nature Center on the right. This
is farther away so you might want to leave earlier.

OCTOBER 9 SUNDAY 2 PM SECREST GARDENS AND ARBORETUM Level
2.5, 5 miles, RR. Meet at the Rose Gardens. 1680 Madison Ave., Wooster, OH 44691.
This hike is on the Ohio State Agricultural Research Center Campus. Combination of
paved, grass and wooded trails that wind through beautiful gardens, water features and
trees. Just 2 hills. Directions from Canton: Take 30 W to Madison Ave. Turn left or
South on Madison. You will go up a hill and the entrance to OARDC is on the left at the
top of the hill. Pull in and then turn left and follow the signs for Secrest Arboretum and

OCTOBER 12 WEDNESDAY 8 AM WETMORE AND LANGES RUN TRAILS
Level 4, two options: 5 and 10 miles, RR. Directions: Take I-77 north and continue onto
OH-8 north. Exit Steels Corners Road. Turn left at light and take Steels Corners Road
3.5 miles. Turn right on Haas Road. After 0.9 miles, take a slight left onto Wetmore
Road and proceed 1.6 miles to Wetmore Trailhead (4653 Wetmore Road, Peninsula).
This is a challenging hike through a hardwood forest with meadows and stream crossings.
Additionally, trekking poles are recommended for stream crossings and potential muddy
ascents /descents. Note: Both of these trails are bridle trails; therefore, horses and their
droppings may be encountered. Leader: Paul Mallue

OCTOBER 15 SATURDAY 9 AM CAMP TUSCAZOAR Level 4, 5 miles, RR.
Hike, then enjoy a pancake breakfast. Meet at the parking lot at the entrance for Camp
Tuscazoar. Directions: Take I-77 south to Bolivar/Zoar exit. Take Rte. 212 left (east)
through Zoar to Rte. 800. Turn left (north), go a short distance, turn right (east), go over
a bridge, turn right onto Boy Scout Rd. and go to camp entrance on the right.

OCTOBER 15 SATURDAY 9AM BOSTON STORE (THREE WATERFALL
HIKE) Level 4, 12 miles/6 mile option, RR. Meet at Boston Store at 1550 W Boston
Mills Rd, Peninsula, OH 44264. Directions: Take I-77/8 north to Rte. 303 exit. Turn left
on Rte. 303 west thru Peninsula. Turn right on Riverview Road, then right onto Boston
Mills Road to the parking lot. There is also an overflow lot just east of Boston Store.
Carry lunch on 12 mile option. Trails/Hills/Stream crossings. Joint hike with CHC.

OCTOBER 16 SUNDAY 2 PM HAMPTON HILLS Level 3, 5 miles, RR. Meet in
Hampton Hills parking lot on Peninsula Road. Directions: Go north on I-77/OH 8 to
Steels Corner exit. Turn left. Go until Steels Corner dead ends. Turn left. Entrance to the
main parking lot is the next left. Challenging hills: the “Top of the World.”

OCTOBER 22 SATURDAY 4 PM HALLOWEEN HIKE AT QUAIL HOLLOW
STATE PARK Level 2, 5 miles, RR. HIKE AT 4PM AND EAT AT 6PM The club
will provide hot dogs, buns, condiments, cider, plasticware, napkins. Bring a dish to
share. Meet at Shady Lane Parking lot. Directions: Go north on Rte. 43 or east on Rte.
619 to square of Hartville. Go north on Congress Lake Road for approximately 1 mile to
park entrance on right. Go ¼ mile, then turn left to the Shady Lane Parking area. WE
WILL HIKE FROM SHADY LANE, THEN MOVE TO THE GROUP CAMPING

OCTOBER 23 SUNDAY 2 PM WALBORN RESERVOIR Level 2, 5 miles, RR.
Meet at the Walborn Reservoir parking lot on Pontius/Price Rd. Go north on Rte. 44
(Ravenna Ave.) to the intersection of Pontius Rd. in New Baltimore. Go right (east) on
Pontius and continue east until you get to Walborn. Parking lot on the right.

OCTOBER 26 WEDNESDAY 10 AM WARMINGTON RD (JOHN GLENN
TRAILHEAD) Level 2, 5 miles, RR. 8000 Warmington Rd SW, Massillon. Meet at the
Warmington Rd. Parking Lot on the south side of the road. Directions: Take Rte. 21
south out of Massillon to Warmington Rd. and turn right (west) to parking lot on the left.
We will hike the Towpath. Leader: Lynn Lenart
OCTOBER 26 WEDNESDAY 6 PM JACKSON PARK- See October 5

OCTOBER 29 SATURDAY 10 AM RED LOCK TO STATION BRIDGE Level 4,
10.5 miles, RR. This is a beautiful hike. Lots of hills and twists. No stream crossings and
no turnaround. Very easy to get lost so it's important to keep with the group. There will
be some climbing involved. Address: Northfield, OH 44067 Take I-77 to Rte 8. Turn
right onto Boston Mills Road/Hines Hill. Then turn right onto East Boston Mills Road.
Continue to Old Route 8 and turn right. Turn left onto Brandywine Road. Turn left onto
West Highland Road. The entrance to Red Lock parking is on the right.

OCTOBER 29 SATURDAY 10 AM FIRESTONE PARK Level 2, 5 miles, RR. Meet
at the first parking lot after entering the park. Bring seeds to feed birds. Directions:
Take I-77north to the Arlington Rd. exit. Turn north (right) to Warner Rd. Turn west
(left) to Harrington Rd. Turn right (north) onto Harrington Rd. to entrance of park just
across the bridge on the left.

OCTOBER 30 SUNDAY 3 PM MOGADORE RESERVOIR Level 2, 5 miles, RR.
Meet at the Boathouse parking lot on Rte.43 approximately 2 miles north of Rte. 224.
Directions: Take Rte. 43 north through Hartville to parking lot on the right.
