View “Life Along the Cape Fear” as part of Wilmington’s Fourth Friday Gallery Walk. The
exhibit features photography and paintings from regional artists, showing how Wilmington’s
river has shaped their lives.

The Nile Project Concert
7:30 p.m. Kenan Auditorium • Tickets $5 - $50
Musicians from the Nile region including Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt create and perform new
music as a collective, with buzzing timbres and ingenious polyrhythms supporting vocals
in more than 10 languages. This rare mix of musicians performs tunes from their critically
acclaimed album Aswan and the soon-to-be-released album Junja. Tickets available for

The Nile Project Community Day at Cameron
Art Museum
1 - 5 p.m. • FREE – Donations appreciated
Spend Sunday afternoon at Cameron Art Museum and participate in public lectures,
storytelling, workshops and mini-concerts led by The Nile Project musicians; this is an event
the entire family can enjoy. Food inspired by the Nile region will be available for purchase from
CAM Café throughout the afternoon. Activities include Riverstories, conversations about the
Nile and Cape Fear Rivers; a music and dance workshop where participants can interact and
participate with The Nile Project musicians; and a discussion about music, citizen engagement
and water resource management.
Monday, March 27
Musical Collaboration and Water Cooperation
Lecture Demonstration
2 - 3:15 p.m. Kenan Auditorium • FREE
During this interactive lecture demonstration, The Nile Project artists explain how their
creative process and performances serve as a blueprint for ways in which the Nile region
can transform from a geopolitical argument to an opportunity for cooperation.
Music, Citizen Engagement and Water Resource
Management Panel Discussion
5:30 - 7:30 p.m. UNCW’s Center for Marine Science • FREE
The Nile Project producer and CEO, Mina Girgis, and CMS’s research professors and
educators explore the scientific and community implications of water quality-related issues
in the Nile and the Cape Fear Rivers. The panel discussion begins at 6 p.m., preceded by
a reception and graduate student poster presentations in the CMS lobby.
Tuesday, March 28
Zar: A Female Perspective Lecture Demonstration
2 - 3:15 p.m. Kenan Auditorium • FREE
During this lecture demonstration, The Nile Project will examine the traditional leadership
role women have played in the Nile and explore the different Zar traditions of the Nile Basin.
Zar is a female-centric trance ritual that may have originated in Ethiopia, from which it spread
to Sudan, Egypt and the Horn of Africa over several centuries. This event culminates with a
musical interaction between The Nile Project musicians and audience participants.

Sunset River Tour with The Nile Project Musicians and
Wilmington Water Tours
5:30 - 7:30 p.m. 212 S. Water Street • Tickets $50
Join us for a sunset river tour with The Nile Project muscians and local historians who
will focus on the history and ecology of the Cape Fear River. Then, sit back and enjoy
live music and light hors d’oeuvres while soaking up the natural beauty of our river and
downtown Wilmington. Tickets available for purchase at uncw.edu/presents or the
