Point-to-Multi Point Wireless Optical Network
Challenge: Complex and Inflexible Network Infrastructure
Modern organizational networks are based on infrastructure such as switches, cables, panels and
racks that are expensive, require lengthy and costly deployment and are inflexible to changes. As
a result, it is difficult to attune organizational networks to dynamic end-user environments and
complex network topologies.
Wi-Fi communication does not provide a full answer:
Although Wi-Fi is increasingly adopted in the organizational environment, it has a number of major
limitations, including unstable signal quality, poor security and limited bandwidth.
The Solution: Beamcaster Point-to-Multi Point Wireless Optical
Communication
RiT Beamcaster point-to-multi point provides a secure and stable line-of-sight (LOS) high-bandwidth
optical communication, of up to 40 feet.
An off-the-shelf solution that can be deployed within hours, Beamcaster combines the advantages
of Wi-Fi wireless communication with the robustness, predictability and security of cabling
infrastructure, opening up a range of new possibilities and deployments in the organization.
Innovative Topology Simplifies the Network and Brings Major Savings
Savings on Equipment
Beamcaster requires only one main switch to communicate directly with all optical distribution units
(ODU). The ODU then transmits the data over the optical beam directly to the smart outlets (SO)
located at end points, which connect to devices such as PCs or outlets. This new topology saves on
expensive network equipment including switches, panels, cables and racks.
Easier Management and Lower Technician Overhead
The Beamcaster optical network is
centrally managed by a software
platform used to connect and
disconnect distribution units
and add new units; cutting
down on maintenance in the
communication room.
The result is a dramatically
shortened deployment time,
improved management and less
technician work.

The Advantages of Beamcaster:
Deployments:
• Ultra-High Bandwidth: currently verified transmission bandwidth of up
to 10GB can be shared by multiple smart outlets, with a maximum of 1GB
Open Space Environments
allocated to each, available at any point in time.
• Ultra-High Security: the link created by Beamcaster is 100% unhackable,
due to the low power level of transmission and the line-of-sight principle.
• Flexibility and Predictability: enables you to add additional end-points
easily, without any change to the physical infrastructure and with 100%
certainty of link bandwidth stability.
• Fast Deployment: the optical distributor unit (ODU) attaches via a single link
to the main switch. The smart outlets (SO) receiving the beam are designed
New Office Space
for quick deployment to multiple users.
• Multiple Services: a single smart outlet provides data, VoIP, RT and HD video.
• Improved Network Control: all network maintenance procedures, such
as moves, adds and changes (MACs), are done remotely from one central
platform.
• Low Maintenance Costs: central
management
lowers
technician
maintenance overhead; can be easily moved with no additional investment
in infrastructure and reduces the number of switches required and lowers
power consumption.
Exhibitions
• Eco-Friendly: significant long and short-term savings in physical cabling
infrastructure and switches, as well as lower power consumption.
• Outside the Scope of Regulation: Beamcaster is not limited by government
regulations as Wi-Fi is.
Specifications:
• Input interface: copper (1Gbps),
fiber optic (1/10Gbps).
• Output: 8 invisible optical beams.
• Bidirectional data exchange.
• Data rate: up to 1Gbps per beam.
• Standard IEEE 802.3 data stream.
• Transmission up to 12 meters/40
feet.
