INDIGO
DYEING IN A BUCKET
RECIPE
5 litres water
15g Caustic Soda (solid) or 60gms Washing Soda
10g Hydrotherm DD (Hydros)
15g Indigo VAT 60% Grains
METHOD
(Short method below, courtesy of Delia Copland. Full details in Information Sheet DY19)
1. Pour 5 litres warm water (30ºC) into a bucket
2. Add 15g solid caustic or 60gms washing soda and stir until dissolved. (Note: if dyeing wool
or silk use washing soda not caustic soda.)
3. Sprinkle 10g Hydrotherm DD (Hydros) into bucket and stir until dissolved.
4. Slowly sprinkle 15g Indigo VAT 60% grains into bucket and stir gently to fully disperse.
5. Cover bucket with cling film and leave 1 hour before using.
