Although Brown was the love of her life, the two did not get along very well with one another. Violence1 became a problem in their relationship. So, after two years of ups and downs, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez split up. Still, many fans kept hoping for a reunion of ‘Jelena’. But after this summer’s spectacular Instagram feud6 between the two and Bieber’s romance with Sofia Richie, a ‘Jelena’ love comeback seems quite unlikely7 at the moment. Womanizer Ashton Kutcher married Demi Moore, Bruce Willis’s ex-wife, in 2005. He was 27 at that time and Demi Moore was about to celebrate her 43rd birthday. Most people couldn’t believe that their marriage only lasted for a few years. However, after six years, the big difference in age3 became a problem. Since 2012, Kutcher has been in a relationship with the actress Mila Kunis (33), whom he married in 2015. Their first child, daughter Wyatt, was born in September 2014 and a second child, a baby boy, is on its way. In 2010, teen star Justin Bieber fell in love with the beautiful Selena Gomez. Their relationship was a stormy and very passionate4 one but there were a lot of rumours of affairs5 on Bieber’s And what is more, Selena’s name has even been linked to the break-up of another very famous couple: ‘Brangelina’. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie met on the set of their film Mr and Mrs Smith in 2005 (when he was still married to Jennifer AnisFormer glamour ton). The two Hollywood couple Angelina Jolie stars fell in love and startand Brad Pitt ed a glamorous and apparently8 solid relationship that finally lasted 12 years. They adopted three children and had another three children of their own. Tasks Step 1 Prepare your interview. a) Get together with a partner and choose one of the celebrities from the article. b) In your interview, you should focus on the break-up story of the celebrity. Include the following information: the year when they started going out the duration of their relationship the year of their separation the reasons for their break-up c) Think of other information about the celebrity you would like to add to make the interview more interesting and fun. Asking yes/no-questions If you ask your celebrity yes/no-questions about their past, you use did or was/were. Was it love at first sight? – Yes, it was./No, it wasn’t. Did you end the relationship? – Yes, I did./No, I didn’t. Asking questions about particular information If you ask for particular information, you use a question word. Where? Tasks Step 1 Agree on information for your poster. a) What relationship advice can you give to young couples? Think about the happy and unhappy couples you have learned about in the previous lessons and couples you know. Agree on five pieces of advice2 in your group and take notes. b) Find pictures from magazines or the Internet for your poster. Step 2 T H C Create your poster. a) Read the language support on how to give advice. b) Write your five top pieces of advice for the poster. Explain your pieces of advice and give examples. I S N Example: Do a lot of activities together! For a happy relationship it is important to spend a lot of time together. Think about activities you and your partner both like and do these things together from time to time. For example, you can do a sport together, go to a concert or go out with friends. A R O c) Create your poster. V Giving relationship advice – language support There are many different ways of giving relationship advice. You can use imperatives to give advice. Be careful: After some verbs you use -ing, for example after to stop and to start. • Spend time with your partner! • Be flexible! • Start seeing your friends more often! • Stop being so jealous! There are also other ways to give advice. Here are some examples.
