Elevator Replacements in Parking Structures 2, 4, and 5 Project • Description: the City of Santa Monica is replacing the elevators in Parking Structures 2, 4, and 5 with modern elevator equipment and cars. One elevator will remain operational in each parking structure during the construction period. • Directional Signage will be posted to direct pedestrians to the functional elevator. • The side-by-side elevators will be out of service until summer 2015. • Work in all 3 structures will be ongoing simultaneously. • There will be barricades and fencing installed at each floor of the structures at the elevator entrances. • There will be construction personnel actively working near the elevator entrances and in and around each structure. • Some parking spaces may be temporarily unavailable due to storage of construction materials. Dear Neighbor, The City of Santa Monica will begin replacing the elevators in Parking Structures 2, 4, and 5 beginning on January 5, 2015. The side-by-side elevators in each structure will be taken out of service on January 5, 2015 for demolition of the old elevator cars and equipment. The single elevators on the opposite side of each structure will remain in operation. Pedestrians will be directed to use these elevators. All stairways will remain open for pedestrian use. Construction Period: Beginning on January 5, 2015, the elevators will be out of service. Service is expected to be restored in the summer of 2015.
