Giving thanks by giving to others Lorton Community Action Center’s (LCAC) Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive 2016 Here are some ways that YOU can give locally this Thanksgiving season: Assemble a food basket using the “Food Basket Contents” list and drop off on November 20th. Assemble a food basket and donate a $20 grocery gift card for the purchase of meat (preferably to Shopper’s or Food Lion, as those stores are the closest to LCAC’s clients) and drop off on November 20th. Mail to LCAC or drop off on November 20th a $20 grocery gift card to Shopper’s or Food Lion. Volunteer your time on Sunday, November 20th or Monday, November 21st! To sign up, visit LortonAction.org and click on “Volunteer.” Food Basket Contents 2 cans corn (low sodium if possible) 2 cans collard or green beans (low sodium if possible) 2 cans of fruit 1 small bag of sugar 1 package dry gravy (no jars) 1 box of stuffing (no bags) 1 brownie mix or cake mix with frosting 1 bottle of Canola oil 1 bag of rice 1 bag of apples or oranges 1 five pound bag of potatoes 1 bag of fresh carrots 1 bag of onions Food Basket Drop Off Date: Sunday, November 20, 2016 Drop Off Time: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Drop Off Location: The Moose Family Center 9612 Fernedge Lane (just off Richmond Hwy (Rte. 1) in Lorton) Deliver all Thanksgiving food donations in sturdy boxes or medium plastic containers with a lid. Produce can be in a separate bag. Please put gift cards into an envelope with dollar amount noted and securely tape to top of box.
