Notes:
Total of five (5) cadavers, intubated orotracheally. Students 1 through 5 will operate under the direct
guidance of a surgical instructor. Students 6 through 10 will manipulate the bronchoscope so all the
procedures will be clearly visible in real time by the operating student and instructor. On completion,
students 1 - 5 will man the bronchoscope while students 6 - 10 perform the procedure through different
incisions. Dr. Crippen will teach both the bronchoscopy guided and non-bronchoscopic free style.
At the end of the procedures, Dr. Crippen may (anatomy permitting) demonstrate emergency
percutaneous tracheotomy and dissect the necks of the cadavers to reveal the pertinent anatomy.
