WearepleasedyouhaveconsideredenteringyoursculpturepieceintheSculptureintheParkExhibitin
Mt.St.MaryParkalongthepicturesqueFoxRiverindowntownSt.Charles,Illinois.
YourSculpture
o Substantialsizesculpturesarepreferredduetothesizeofthepark(29acres).Sculpturesshouldbe
durableandsuitableforoutdoorplacementinapublicpark.Allpieceswillbemountedtoaconcrete
slab.Itisrequestedthatsculptorsprovideaminimummountingsystemofnolessthan3/8”boltsand
nogreaterthan3/4”bolts.Aminimum3‐pointboltingsystemisrequired.Ifthesculptorrequires
heavyequipmenttoinstallthesculpturepiece,theParkDistrictmustbenotifiedpriortoinstallation
day.AnyquestionsrelatedtothemountingsystemorinstallationshouldbedirectedtoConstruction
SupervisorJohnKishat630‐318‐[email protected],weightofpiecemustbethe
sameasshownontheapplicationandadesignfootprintmustbesubmitteduponrequesttothe
ConstructionSupervisor.Duringinstallation,theConstructionSupervisorreservestherighttonot
acceptasculptureduetosafety,durabilityorconstructionissues.
o Acceptablemediainclude:metal,stoneoranyotherdurablematerialthatcanwithstandtheelements
andabuseofanoutdoordisplay.Sculpturesareaccessibletothepublic;theyaredisplayedalonga
walkingpath.Piecesshouldnothavesharpedges,belooseorbeabletobedismantledinanywayor
beanendangermenttothepublic.Thecommitteereservestherighttoinspectallpiecesandorderthe
removalofasculptureifthecommitteefeelsitpresentsadanger;thecommittee’sdecisionisfinal.
o Allpiecesmustbeavailableforsale;thesculptor'sname,sculpturenameandsalepricewillappearon
arecognitionplaquemountedonthebase.
o TheCommitteewillberesponsibleforworkingwithlocalandregionalmediatopromotetheSculpture
intheParkexhibit.

o TheCommitteewillreviewallapplicationsandmakerecommendationstotheSt.CharlesParkDistrict
BoardofCommissionersforfinalapproval.SculptorswillbenotifiedbyMarch15,2017iftheir
sculptureisacceptedfortheexhibit.
o Sculptorswilldelivertheirpiecesbetweenthehoursof8amand3pmduringtheweekofApril25,

presentationsat6pm.
RemovalofsculptureswilltakeplaceduringtheweekofOctober16,2017.PleasecallJohnKishat
630‐318‐0063toscheduletheremovalofyoursculpture.Insurancewillterminateuponremovalofthe
sculpturepieceorby5pmonOctober20,2017.
Honorariums&Fees
o Alongwiththeapplication,ajuryfeeof$25forthefirstpiecesubmittedand$15foreachadditional
piecemustbeincluded.Thisfeeistaxdeductible.
o Eachacceptedsculptorwillbepaida$500honorarium.Asculptorwhohasbeenapprovedtoexhibit
twopieces(themaximumpersculptor)willbepaidanhonorariumof$750,whichcoversbothpieces.
o Thecommitteewillawarda“CommitteeAward”intheamountof$500toonesculptor.Thissculptor
willberecognizedattheSculptor’sReceptiononJune16,2017.
o SculptureintheParkissponsoredbytheSt.CharlesParkDistrictandtheSt.CharlesParkFoundation,a
501(c)3organization;donationsaretaxdeductibletotheextentpermittedbylaw.
o TheCommitteewillcollecta30%commissiononsculpturessoldorcommissionedduringtheperiodof
theexhibit.
Insurance
o TheSt.CharlesParkDistrictwillprovideinsuranceduringtheperiodoftheexhibitforanydamages
incurreduptoamaximumof$10,000asdeterminedbytheinsurer.TheDistrictisresponsiblefor
insuringthepiecewhiletheyareinpossessionofthesculpture.Insurancecoveragebeforedelivery
andimmediatelyafterremovalofthesculptureistheresponsibilityofthesculptororowner.Ifany
damageisdonetoapiece,theamountcoveredisthecostofrepairingthesculptureor,intheeventthe
pieceisnotrepairable,thecostofreplicationofthepiecebythesculptor,upto$10,000maximum,as
opposedtotheretailvalueofthepiece.Intheinterestofpublicsafety,theCommitteeandtheSt.
CharlesParkDistrictretaintherighttoremovedamagedordangerouspiecesintheabsenceofprompt
andsatisfactoryrepair.
o Forinsurancepurposes,sculptorswillcertifytotheSt.CharlesParkDistrictthattheyhavecreatedand
possessunencumberedtitletothesculpture(s)beingsubmittedtotheSculptureintheParkExhibit.
o TheSculptureintheParkCommittee,theSt.CharlesParkFoundationandtheSt.CharlesParkDistrict
willnotbeliablefordegradationcausedbyweatherand/ornormalwearandtear.
