Electrician – Site Department Early April – Mid May, 2014 Assist in installation, maintenance, removal and storage of electrical inventory/equipment. Insure that all electrical work is performed in accordance with the National Electric Code. Assist in AMP readings. Be on standby during event. Certified Electrician Skills required, as is experience with temporary electrical distribution for special events. Heavy lifting is required. Must have endurance for working long hours in an active, stressful production setting with the ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Fair Runner – Fair Administration Dept. April 4-May 8, 2014 (Full Time) Act as off/on-site runner for Fair Production Departments. Delivery and pick-up of items throughout the Greater New Orleans Metro area. Must possess valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record. Must be able to lift 75 lbs. Knowledge of Greater New Orleans Metro area required. Must be able to work under adverse and stressful conditions. Signs and Décor Lead Artist – Sign & Décor Department April 4 – May 9, 2014 (Full Time) Working with supervisor’s designs to create new backdrops, sound tower scrims and stage valences. Create and recreate designs in a timely manner. Oversee and facilitate the completion of new or repainted artwork. Experience and expertise in color matching preferred. Must have good communication skills, while having the ability to handle stress in a high-pressure production setting. Endurance for long hours in an active and stressful position. Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in all weather conditions. Cultural Exchange Pavilion Store Inventory Manager April 1- May 8, 2014 (Full Time) The Cultural Exchange Inventory Manager is responsible for the distribution and tracking of merchandise the store inside of the Brazil Pavilion. This position will directly oversee the tent set-up and break down in addition to supervising the tent inventory. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Will require some heavy lifting. Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work long hours in an active and stressful production setting in all weather conditions are required. Knowledge of Brazilian culture and customs is preferred. Food Event Office Assistant – Food Department April 14 – May 8, 2014 (Full Time) Works in conjunction with the Food Director by assisting with the overall administration, clerical, computer and organizational aspects of the Food Department operation. Must have experience in MS Word, Excel and Access. Strong typing skills and the ability to work in a team is required. Knowledge of Louisiana foods and an educated palate is helpful. The ability to traverse the field and some light lifting is required. Must be able to handle stress in a high-pressure production setting. Event Parker – Fair Operations Department April 19 – May 4, 2014 Direct and coordinate day to day parking of all vehicles and traffic flow in and around assigned area. Assist in loading of Taxi-cabs during event days. Must be able to stand for up to 14 hours in all weather. Strong interpersonal skills required. While riding a bicycle, assist musicians in finding a parking space in the music parking lot. Catering Crew- Music Production Department April 25 – May 4, 2014 (Event Days Only) Deliver food and ice chests to dressing rooms at all stages for band catering. Assist with preparation of ice chests, towels, and food needs for each band. Must be professional, even- tempered, not easily flustered, and not star struck. No autographs or picture taking are allowed. Stamina, ability to lift 40 lbs and a willingness to work as part of a team are an absolute must. Musician’s Entrance Gate Crew / Music Production Department April 25 – May 4, 2014 (Event Days Only) The Mystery St. Gate is the entrance that many production vehicles use. Gate Crew must inspect all vehicles to enter the gate, to ensure that they have the correct tag, and the correct number of tickets per vehicle. This position is in the street, among vehicles and pedestrians. Must be able to work in rain or shine, standing, all day. Must be able to make a strong positive first impression of Jazz Fest, be polite, courteous, and keep a cool head.
