Exploring the Earth Curriculum Year One Dinosaurs In Literacy we will be reading non-fiction texts, we will be writing facts about Dinosaurs and sequencing events. 8th May 2017 In Numeracy we will be learning to add money. Buy 2 items and make the total (e.g. 2p =7p =9p). Then use coins to make the amount. We will also be using subtraction to find change Phonics phase 5 week 24: alternative spellings for igh ie as in pie, i-e as in ride, y as in fly (e.g. 20p – 12p =8p). Handwriting: practising diagonal join, no ascender, joining ime, ine Words: two, yes, has, fifteen We will be learning about palaeontologists – in particular Mary Anning. Our Earth Experience will be digging up dinosaur bones in our sandpit and creating a model dinosaur. We will be using recycled materials to make models of dinosaurs. We will be drawing and painting pictures of dinosaurs. Trip to the Natural History Museum Aquamarine, Peridot and Silver on Tuesday Remember to bring your packed lunch in a named disposable bag on the day of the trip. This should consist of a sandwich, a piece of fruit, a packet of crisps and snack biscuits – no sweets or chocolate please. You should also bring 2 small bottles of water. In PE this week we will be exploring Athletic skills. This week in Computing we will be using all the skills we have learned over the last few weeks to create our own computer games. The children will select their own objects and actions and program their games using computer code. The children will then save their games to an online gallery where they can try out each other’s creations and access their own apps from home. A letter will go out to parents and carers at the end of the week with instructions detailing how to find their games online.
