Water molecules are bent
Lone electron pairs are closer to the central atom than bonding electron pairs. Therefore, lone electron pairs cause greater repulsion than bonding electron pairs.
1. Suggest a hypothesis for how this affects the bond angles. Keep in mind that the
bond angle in a tetrahedron is 109.5°.
2. Build “toothpick and modeling clay molecules” of ammonia (Ammoniak, NH3)
and water (H2O) according to your hypothesis.
