The Lab School’s programs and policies are applied with equal consideration to all of its applicants and students. The School does not discriminate on the basis of race,
gender, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, disability, or any other status protected by applicable law. It is the policy of the School to provide reasonable
accommodation to admitted students who can meet the academic expectations of the School. Enrollment is conditioned on the student’s ability to participate in the School’s
programs, with or without reasonable accommodation. The Lab School evaluates each need for accommodation on a case-by-case basis, considering the needs of the
individual students. However, the School’s programs generally are not designed to support the needs of students with primary emotional difficulties.

“The Summer Project
provides an amazing sense
of educational community
Picture yourself building a scale
model of the Globe Theatre from
the 1500s in England — complete
with its thatched roof, trapdoor
and cellarage, and the rushstrewn earthen floor of the Pit.
Picture yourself swinging a
sword, heeding the warning of a
ghost, or pondering the power of
love, a “many-splintered thing.”
Picture yourself building stage
sets and managing lighting as
your peers perform scenes from Shakespeare. You will be using your imagination
as you bolster your academic skills to solve real construction and performance
challenges.
You will learn about iambic pentameter, parody, and the witty language of the
Bard (Shakespeare) while studying history, culture, and science of the Renaissance and gaining a whole new level of understanding of this artist and his time.
The Lab School’s successful Summer Project is a transformative way to learn; it
offers students opportunities to develop 21st century skills such as working collaboratively and taking ownership of their ideas with all the ups and downs that
come with bringing them to fruition. Focused on group process and individual
skill development, the schedule changes daily, making this camp experience
dynamic and unlike a typical day of the school year.
Because summer vacation often makes it difficult for students to maintain the
progress they have worked so diligently to achieve during the school year, the
Summer Project at Lab helps rising seventh, eighth, and ninth graders integrate
learning of academic skills like writing and math through inquiry and creative
problem-solving, researching, character and dialogue development, set design,
arts projects, and a live-audience performance.
It’s a summer experience students will always remember!
for children who often feel
alone with their learning
differences. They are so
engaged that they definitely
feel like they are at camp,
not summer school.”
