Dear Coach,
Now the 2017 season is coming upon us, we are all getting ready to play baseball. The TASO umpires have been in
training and now working scrimmages to get some of the rust off. I would like to take this time to remind you that the
TASO Scholarship Foundation is here for your Senior Players. You can have them go to
www.houstontasoscholarships.com for the eligibility and link for the online application. As a varsity coach in the
Greater Houston Area we need your support in getting your players to apply. We need for them to complete the
required documentation and take advantage of the $45,000 in scholarships that will be given this year. You as a coach
play an intricate role in this entire program.
Without your support in providing fields, teams and encouraged support we would not be able to offer these
scholarships. Many of the coaches in the area have not participated in the TASO Tournament. I would like to take this
opportunity to invite you to register. We have an online registration for coaches to register for the 2017 Tournament.
The tournament will take place September 6-10. The fee will be $500 per team for JV and Varsity. Our goal is to have
64 Varsity and 32 JV teams. We know that it is difficult for many programs to commit to this tournament because of
conflicts with other activities. We can work with you to offer specific weekdays, as well as combining schools to
complete the roster. If we fill the tournament we can offer additional funds to the 2018 scholarships.
The Houston TASO umpires is a great group of individuals committed to working hard during your games as well as
giving back to the athletes that need that assistance in their scholastic future. Please support us and get the word out
to promote this great program
